Verge Under Attack… Again (Maybe?)

Source: Bitcoin Talk | The ICO Journal

No, you didn’t accidentally click on last week’s news – Bitcoin Talk user ocminer has claimed that Verge is yet again the target of a 51% attack. Note: at the time of this writing, we cannot find conclusive evidence to either support or refute this claim. In any event, rumors of Round 3 have finally started to see Verge partners cast public skepticism on the brand’s viability; in fact, the general tone of the news coverage has noticeably shifted from concern to exasperation.

Announcement: Eltoo for BTC Lightning Network

Source: Blockstream

The latest research findings on Eltoo, a simplified update mechanism for BTC Lightning, were released today. Eltoo allows for transactions to be updated and validated off-chain without the need for intermediate updates – that is, Eltoo essentially connects the final transaction state to the creation of a contract. Implementation would require a “minor change” to Bitcoin; namely, the addition of a new SIGHASH flag called SIGHASH_INPUT, which matches transaction-bound inputs to output scripts, thereby allowing any state changes between the original input and the final output to be “skipped.” A link to the full research paper can be found in the source above.

Wikimedia France Exits Partnership with RequestNetwork

Source: Reddit

Wikimedia France has pulled out of a partnership with RequestNetwork after the announcement of the partnership was miscommunicated, RequestNetwork said in a statement. The original announcement erroneously cited the Wikimedia Foundation as the partnering entity and utilized their branding materials. Though the error was rectified after notification, Wikimedia France apparently did not find the corrective measure to be sufficient.
