It actually depends on your level of hunger. I won't advise you to eat if you aren't hungry because eating too much sometimes affect the body system in the way you can't expect.
This implies that you have to be very careful about what you want to eat before swimming because heavy food may cause you big problems like making your body heavy before swimming and causing you causing you to do more work.
I suggest you go for a very light food that won't make your body heavy before and while swimming so that the amount of work done won't be much on you.
Also, ensure you allow your meal to digest even before swimming even if you are addicted to taking heavy meals.
In conclusion, don't eat anything when you are not hungry except chewing gum and if you feel like eating food when you are hungry, go for light meal so that your body won't be heavy and you won't do much work in carrying your body and displacing the water while swimming.
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps.
