Hard work is the basis of everything worthwhile you can achieve. You might be a dreamer, you might have lots of ideas, you might be well talented but I tell you dreams, idea, and even talent can be a waste without hard work. It is just the foundation of every successful person. Hard work is that one thing every successful person have in common.

Talent And Hard work

Like I earlier said talent is a waste without working hard. But before I start comparing hard work with a talent I will like to write briefly on talent.

Talent is a natural skill set for a person to perform a particular task. It is a gift a person is born with. Talent gives a headstart, a talented person we perform a task easier than an untalented person.

Yet talent is not just enough. You have to put your talent to good use by working hard. To illustrate this point I will like to take this great footballer as case study Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is a very talented footballer yet not the most talented footballer like many believe but I tell you he is now considered one of the greatest
footballer that has ever lived. He has attained this feat because he understands what he needs to be the best, he understands he can only be the best with hard work, he didn't just rely on his talent.

Ronaldo is a perfect example of hard work.

But is hard work really enough?
At times it's not just about hard work it is more about working smart and making hay while the sun shines( working at the right time)

Hard work is very good but I tell you working smart is better. You can work very hard and end up not been successful if you are barking the wrong tree. You have to be smart in all your endeavors. Part of working smart is knowing your weakness and working really hard to improve on that weakness.

Still taking Cristiano as a case study; his shooting ability when he arrived at Manchester was not really impressive. Ronaldo on discovering this was smart enough to work really hard on his shooting ability which has made him a good goalscorer today.

This quote was my school proprietor slogan all through secondary school. During my time as a secondary student, we sometimes laugh at this slogan as we see it as a daily word of wisdom that is getting monotonous. Yes, it was monotonous but I can tell you he his very correct. All he was always trying to preach was not just hard work, he was trying to convince us to work hard at the right time, a time when we still have the strength to work, a time when we can sow lots of fruits with hard work.

Understanding the principle of time and the importance of age is very crucial to hard work. You will agree with me most successful and rich people amass their wealth before 50 years of age because that is the time you can really work. A time when you still have the strength.
