I have a nice 2014 F150 4x4 truck, but let me show you my other truck. It is a 1986 Toyota 4x4. It has over 250,000 miles on it. The lights don’t work. It leaks brake fluid and burns oil. The instrument gauges don’t work. The tail gate requires instruction to open and the windows are hard to open and close. However, it runs good, the speedometer works and the key alarm works. We don’t drive it to town because it may never come back because it would not be considered road worthy.

At one time it was yellow, but someone, thinking they were doing me a favor, got some spray paint and painted most of the truck a tan color, but he ran out of paint before he finished. All in all the truck is kind of a mess.

The truck is used for going up and down our mountain to check the mail, haul supplies, and carry fire wood, and on occasion hauling water when we need to transfer water from the well to a water tank.

A few winters ago, I was driving down our mountain and slipped on the ice. I did a complete 180, sliding towards the pond, but the trees stopped me. The acquired dents now add to the character of this truck.

So that’s my other truck. Every homestead would be well served to have an old truck to do the dirty work.

Thanks for reading my post.

I would consider this to be a fine work horse for the homestead. All the dings and none working bits just give it added character!
