The Kissing BoothsteemCreated with Sketch.

The Kissing Booth is a lousy teen flick with deceiving and unrealistic portrayals of normal adolescence. There is almost no parental oversight throughout the whole entire movie. They only come in once or twice and play a big part of these character's decisions. This gives the illusion of freedom and responsibility, but in actuality, it only makes the plot line hard to swallow since most parents would have some oversight over their children, no matter it be their academics, extracurriculars, or relationships. Movies like, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, has a much more realistic relationship between the Lara Jean and her father. Her father isn't excessively involved, but he is present and there to support her.

The Kissing Booth completely lacks this type of parental support and empathy. Additionally, all the scenes normalizing under-age drinking, implying sex, and stripping are completely inappropriate for this movie's intended audience: 14 year old's. The Kissing Booth glamorizes dangerous and irresponsible behavior, not only the sexual content but also the violence and lying. There was so much lying and concealing from supposedly close characters. It would have been much better if all the above stated had some significance or nuance to create some real conflict and tension, but there not much change in the plot or the characters.

You might be able to have fun watching this movie if you ignore everything that I said, but overall I wasn't completely comfortable watching this movie.
