Australia on Fire Very Sad Times !!

I don't know if everyone is aware of this disastrous devastation that is taking place in my home country of Australia since early October bushfires started in the Gold Coast of Brisbane and have now spread around most of Australia while the rest of of world has been celebrating Christmas and New Year people in Australia had to prepare for the worst these bushfires have now been raging out of control for over the past 2 months now and they are still on many paths of destruction.

Australia at the moment is in the grips of a massive wildfire disaster with the intensified heat , droughts and wind changes it's made need impossible to bring it under control the Military have been called in to assist in the evacuation of civilians from there homes all around Australia. The thick of the smoke has reached as far as New Zealand more then 1,000 miles away.

The heat and the dry conditions have turned the Australian landscape into a tinderbox. Since the fires began ravaging the country since October there has been 17 deaths and at least 20 still missing. More then 1,000 building have been lost to fire and at least 10.1 million acres burned just in Victoria and New South Wales alone.

This area burning is bigger then 9 U.S. states and equivalent to the size of Maryland. The scorching flames have cause road closures , cell phone outrages and trees topping all over the highways , the navy ships and military aircraft have have to deliver food , water and fuel to stranded civilians.

Many people have fled there homes taking to the water for safety some living in there boats and others camping on the beach fronts with supplies and wearing gas masks.

Thousands of firefighters and volunteers have joined forces to try and tackle these fire paths of destruction. Aerial tankers from the United States , Canada and New Zealand have been flown in to help battle these blazes and also many volunteers from these countries gave up there Christmas and New Year with there families to come over and help with this sad devastation that is happening to Australia a very big , big thank you to you guys.

The other sad and devastating factor about these out of control raging bushfires is the impact it has on the Australia wildlife they are saying that more then 500 million animals as in mammals, birds and reptiles are feared to have died in the bushfires sweeping Australia, including nearly a third of the koalas in New South Wales's main habitat. This includes almost 8,000 koalas, which are believed to have burnt to death on the states mid-north coast.

This is the heartbreaking moment a cyclist shares her water with a dehydrated Koala Bear which was begging for water during the record breaking heatwave in Australia. The poor Koala Bear can be seen drinking thirstily when offered a water bottle during 40C heat.

Just to put into perspective how bad the East Coast of Australian bush fires are at the moment , when the Brazilian Amazon rainforest went up in flames it burnt 125,000 hectares, Australia has lost over three million hectares so far and it's only going to get worse in the coming weeks and months with summer predicted to be very little rain fall, extreme heat and drought conditions.

These fires are not just in the remote outback they are in country towns, they are in the outer suburbs of cities. Sydney is a big city and sprawls across about the same area as Los Angeles. We currently have one fire out of control that covers 1.1 million acres on the outskirts of Sydney my home state , i pray to God we get some heavy rains or they can bring it under control i have already had some friends that have lost there homes in this out of control blaze. This is the smoke haze over Sydney at the moment.

This is really hard to imagine that this is happening in Australia and we our far from seeing the end to this hundreds of houses and thousands of other structures have been destroyed. Entire towns have been obliterated. People have been killed and injured both firefighters and civilians. And the devastating impact on our iconic wildlife may be irreversible. The Koala population in particular may never recover , there is talk that they may face extinction once the fires are over. There are aircraft, heavy machinery and thousands of paid and volunteer firefighters fighting this (NSW Rural Fire Service is the largest volunteer fire service in the world) but they have been working continuously since September, they are exhausted and there’s no end in sight.

So sadly there is no risk we will become like California — in scale and ferocity this has gone way way past the size of California in regards to bush fires. 😥 🔥 😒 We will all do our best, but make no mistake, homes will burn, people will die and the land will be lost. The most important thing to watch for now is the unstoppable Australian spirit that will rise from these ashes!
