Spammers buying successful Steemit accounts! Is it legal?
Hi Steemians
I discovered lately many Steemians selling their accounts in the Black Market. I dont know if it legal or illegal, because I dont find anything regarding this topic. Steemit's current verification system prevents people of making more than an account. But they made them and you can buy Steemit accounts on Facebook or bitcointalk.org
I know that many Steemians have a second account and they use it as a bot or for any other positive reason. But what about users who have more than 50 or 100 accounts! How many phone numbers are they using to register these accounts? I also know that they use them to upvote their posts which is not accepted in my opinion. It is unfair and considered rewards pool rape.
Who is the owner?!
This is another whole story that explains many things. I remember some weeks ago my friend @overkillcoin discovered a spammer with a girl's photo. In his old posts he introduced himself as a man. Now the question is "Who is he?"
Steemians who may not know the ownership of the account has changed would be confused. And yes! Was he a man or a women? A spammer who is pretending to be a girl or a girl who bought an old account!
It is all about trust, isnt it! We gain followers, because they trust us. And these accounts sellers make multiple accounts and up vote, resteem posts between the accounts they own to gain more Steem Power.
That means everyone can sign up here and have multiple accounts to rape the reward pool and post junk. Gain thousands of followers and finally sell the account for some bucks.
Is this a new business and should we remain silent! Can we accept the fact that A successfull account with enough Steem Power and Followers gets sold to a Spammer!
Thank you for reading and I would like to know your opining regarding this topic :)

Interesting , gaming the system. Whales should confront those selling their accounts.
I am sure that the most people are aware of it, but nobody is taking action :)
This is a problem with such a simple solution.
After logging in with the Steem password, the user should be asked a randomly generated number sent to his phone.
But for this to happen, we should first be allowed to change the phone number associated to our account, in case we need to switch our phone number.
I have been seeing this logging process more and more. It's even more secure and it's easy to ensure a phone number can only be associated to a single account.
If this were implemented, at most we'd see people with 3 accounts. Never 50 or 100s.
What do you guys think of this solution?
When I signed up I got a message with confirmation code sent to my number. But I am not sure if everybody has to go through the same process.
Yes, but that doesn't prevent anyone from buying your account.
Our phone number should be confirmed more regularly, not just upon registration.
If we needed to confirm our phone number once a day, once a week or once a month... it would prevent people from selling and buying accounts, 'cause they would be useless.
Appreciate your work for Steemit community, well firstly I think Steemit community should seek help from other social media resources to prevent these spammers.. And to explore a strict policy...
In second case where someone changes gender , it's more like a case of moral values.
They should work closely with Cellular companies and local regulatory authorities as they can provide accurate user data...
Yes true or maybe ask for the ID to verify the account.
Everywhere where there is to gain something, people are trying to beat 'the system'. I think it is quite difficult to protect from cause due to the open character of the platform. When a account is succesful it is succesful for a reason. A reason the spammer probably can't continue otherwise he'd already had succesful accounts. So I think (hope) that that wil solve itself...
Yes I hope too !
