Netflix Series "You" Review

in #blog7 years ago

After seeing the advertisement every time I logged into Netflix, I finally decided to watch their original new series. "You". A psychological thriller based on Caroline Kepnes novel by the same title; and was definitely worth my time.

The story begins when the bookstore manager Joe Goldberg meets the graduate student and aspiring writer Guinevere Beck and falls in love at first sight. He became madly in love with her and was prepared to do everything it takes to have the perfect love story with her. Stalking her, stealing her phone and passwords, invading her private life and even killing her friends. All he aimed for is to become her one and only. The love of her life and the protector.

Joe comes across as a very sweet guy. Handsome, charming with a sick and twisted mind. But that's what made me like this show in the first place. I find the inside of the mind of a serial killer very interesting and try to understand their motives. From the outside he is nice and looking out for his neighbor's kid, but also committed many murders; and stalked Beck and her friends. But as the show goes on, you understand his obsession and begin to fall in love with his unpredictable and dark nature.

Beck lies, falls for the wrong men and cheats Joe on several occasions. She gets fired from her job as a yoga instructor because she falls asleep. She goes out with the wrong rich friends because thats what she wants to become.

Conclusion! The show is very realistic and extremely relevant in today’s time. Every woman wants to have a loving and caring guy, who is only seeing her, but not 24/7! Things happen very fast and you don't feel bored at all. The way it was shot is beautiful and every character is interesting. I finished the full season in 3 days and already waiting for the second season to be released in December. The ending is uniquely terrible, but you will still love Joe :) His self-talk and funny masturbation scenes :P

And what would you do for love?!
