Frustrated by Steemit! Help me please

Did I miss the memo?

I have googled Steemit, Youtubed Steemit and read some posts on here but have had no success discovering how to search for a friend's post. I used the search box to search for my own post in the general feed, I put the title of my post in, then I tried using the tags I had 'tagged' it with, but my post doesn't appear. I tried searching for a post which had been added by a riend, with the same frustrating results.

I love the idea of Steemit but am finding that the site itself is not very intuitive, or maybe I'm missing something. Can anyone in the steemit community can help me

I personally am having some serious hard time getting my head around the whole thing as well. Signed up in slack in hopes for having some clarity but so far the whole concept is making my alarms go bananas. it is counter intuitive in its social engagement, has a huge learning curve, lacks a ton of features that makes it a one big soup. no groups no easy way of following tags (or is there, if yes where is the manual? is it in the whitepaper -still reading not sure), a lot of bots? what the drive that gets people here, making money? finally finding a way to get rid of facebook? but then its not really a substitute for facebook paradigm either. more reddit then.. fine.. tsu.co was trying to replace facebook afaik. I'm confused, is there a link to some kind of manifesto? so far the concept feels like a wetdream of very interested and invested, crpyto/dev peeps... and seems like if you aren't an early adapter of some kind (which is crazy, when you think about it. I mean how long ago exactly this whole thing started in the first place? is the window a week or so these days?) I read that there are surprise cases, like stellabella making 12k in a month, without any initial interest in blockchain etc.. well cool, but these fringe cases being used as an argument feels like a survivor bias... also this whole 'whale' thing.. isn't this a simple case of history repeating itself? I'm not so well versed in economics so I'd really like to hear someone explaining to me what's the model here that protects the system here, a safe-guard against the the emergence of yet another 1% that holds all the power in their hands?.. apologies for this over-energized blurt. I am really trying to get a better grip at this, really am interested I see a lot of potential but it is costing a lot of energy trying to find the bread crumps that will leads to an overview of this concept. for me and other newbies to understand & if willing to contribute.

I agree with much of this. It certainly seems counter intuitive and the lack of a stuctured or 'group' system seems a little behind the times. I like the idea of making money whilst doing something I would do anyway but am also stuggling to get my head into the modus here

yup.. I ended up making a separate post about this too =/ have very little faith I'll get my answers via it but who knows. but yeah.. basic things, I don't even get a notification about you having replied! How is this gonna be any 'social' if I can't even notice when someone is talking to me =D

It is a bit 'bare bones' but I'm beginning to enjoy it. I have faith that the site will become more user friendly as it matures. Stick with it guys :D

I'm there as well finally. finally started enjoying it, finding nice members to follow.. slowly learning the ropes. also people on slackchannels are awesome! =D
