in SteemitCryptoAcademy2 years ago (edited)

Hello everyone!

I am excited to participate in the 6th week of the Steemit Engagement Challenge where we will be discussing an important topic: the security of our Steemit accounts. As we all know, Steemit is a decentralized social media platform that allows users to earn cryptocurrency through their posts, comments, and other activities on the platform. However, this also means that our accounts can be vulnerable to hacking attempts by malicious actors. In this post, I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions on how we can keep our Steemit accounts safe and secure. Let's dive in and learn more about this important topic!

Have you had your Steemit account hacked? What do you think about dubious links offering rewards? Give us your opinion.

No, my Steemit account has never been hacked. I take the security of my account very seriously and am very careful about ensuring its safety. I have implemented various security measures such as using a strong and unique password, enabling two-factor authentication, and avoiding logging in from public Wi-Fi networks. I also do not click on suspicious links offering rewards unless I can verify their authenticity.
By being proactive and vigilant, I am able to protect my account from potential security threats and keep my personal information and earned rewards safe. I understand the importance of maintaining a secure and trustworthy account on the Steemit platform, and I take all necessary precautions to ensure its integrity.

What are your recommendations to prevent your account from being stolen or hacked? Give us your opinion.

here are some of my recommendations to prevent your Steemit account from being stolen or hacked, from my point of view:

Use a strong and unique password:

A strong password should be at least 12 characters long and include a mix of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts.

Avoid logging in from public Wi-Fi networks:

Public Wi-Fi networks may not be secure, and your login credentials may be intercepted by hackers. Instead, use a secure and private network to log in to your account.

Verify the authenticity of links and offers:

Be cautious of suspicious links and offers that promise rewards or benefits. Verify the authenticity of the links before clicking on them, and only interact with trusted sources on the Steemit platform.

Keep your software up-to-date:

Ensure that your computer or mobile device's operating system and antivirus software are up-to-date to protect against security vulnerabilities.

By implementing these measures, you can significantly reduce the risk of your Steemit account being stolen or hacked. It's important to remember that your account security depends on you, and taking proactive measures is essential to keep your personal information and earned rewards safe on the platform.

Why do some accounts get hacked? What would you say to people whose accounts are hacked? Give us your opinion.
Some accounts get hacked because their owners may not have taken adequate security measures to protect their accounts. Hackers may use various tactics to compromise accounts, such as phishing emails, malicious links, or exploiting software vulnerabilities. If someone's account is hacked, I would recommend that they immediately change their password. They should also contact Steemit support to report the issue and request assistance. It's important to understand that being hacked does not necessarily mean that the user has done something wrong. However, it is important to take preventive measures and to be cautious when interacting with suspicious links or emails. It is also important to keep software up-to-date and to be aware of potential security threats. In conclusion, it is essential to take proactive measures to protect your Steemit account from potential security threats. If your account is hacked, it's important to take action immediately and contact Steemit support for assistance. Remember, taking preventive measures is key to maintaining a secure and trustworthy account on the Steemit platform.

If you find out that your account has been hacked, what are the steps you should take immediately to prevent your tokens from being stolen?

Certainly, here are the steps I would take immediately if I discovered that my Steemit account had been hacked, from my point of view:

Change my password

The first thing I would do is change my password immediately to prevent the hacker from accessing my account.

Disable active sessions

I would then go to the Steemit settings page and disable any active sessions that I don't recognize. This will log out any active sessions that may have been opened by the hacker.

Contact Steemit support:

I would contact Steemit support immediately to report the issue and request assistance. They may be able to help in the recovery of any stolen tokens and provide further advice on securing my account.

Monitor my account activity

I would regularly monitor my account activity to detect any unauthorized transactions or changes to my account. If I notice any suspicious activity, I would report it to Steemit support immediately.

Saludos amigo, excelente publicación, bastante clara y precisa. Tiene razón, generalmente las cuentas son hackeadas porque sus dueños no tomamos las adecuadas medidas de seguridad y eso puede ser por diferentes razones; gracias por las recomendaciones expuestas y por compartir con nosotros tu gran participación.

Thank you so much
