Trezor develops tool that allows to recover cryptocurrency sent in the wrong directions

in #crypto7 years ago

The Trezor cold wallet company has developed a tool that allows users to recover the cryptones sent to the wrong addresses, due to the confusion generated after the activation of SegWit and the bifurcation that it introduced in the market to Bitcoin Cash.

Although there are eight possible error scenarios in the transaction, this tool only allows you to recover coins in six of these. If you sent Bitcoin Cash (BCH) to a Bitcoin address (BTC) starting at 3, there is no sure way to recover the assets, because SegWit is not enabled on the BCH network . This is also true for BCH sent to Litecoin (LTC). Here we show you how to use this simple tool with the most common cases.

By activating SegWit in the Bitcoin network, new accounts were introduced to Trezor wallets , to allow users of these cold wallets to use BTC addresses with P2SH . But as many Litecoin services only accept transactions to addresses started in 3, many users have accidentally sent litecoins to addresses generated in Bitcoin portfolios rather than Litecoin's M portfolios.

To reverse this, just set the terms as shown in the graph and then connect with your Trezor device.

If you imported your XPUB (extended public key) into a portfolio of another company, an address starting at 1 will be generated incorrectly instead of an address 3. Since Trezor does not recognize addresses 1, it is necessary to use the tool, configuring it as shown in the image.

Finally, as already mentioned, transactions made from Bitcoin Cash to Bitcoin or Litecoin addresses starting at 3 can not be reversed. When you try, it will display the following message.

Users of BTC, BCH, and LTC need to check whether the portfolios they use have made the necessary updates to support SegWit. Likewise, it must be verified that transactions are not being performed between nodes that are not compatible, because version 0.15.0 of Bitcoin Core will reject any node that uses SegWit2x
