FACEBOOK will soon launch a new application for video content creators ...
In its constant attempts to compete with YouTube, Facebook has taken many steps in the last two years to make its platform quite a rival to YouTube, especially when it comes to live broadcast. In a new move on the same approach Facebook announced that it plans to launch a completely new application for content creators later on this year.
This application will primarily be directed to well-known stars and content creators who are also the same category of people who are able to use the Facebook Mentions app, which is available only to certified accounts (owned by the blue label) owned by journalists, celebrities and other influencers on the Internet.
Facebook's intentions to launch the new application are announced at the VidCon annual video conference. The new application, unlike Mentions, will be targeted only to video content creators. The application will maintain the live streaming feature from Facebook and will provide content creators with many tools To add editorials and captions to their live videos, as well as posters, filters and special frames that will increase audience interaction with their videos.

Facebook is desperately trying to maintain its hold on the social media game, by copying/incorporating whatever it is their competitors are doing. It seems as if they haven't really came out with an original idea in a while. I wonder how long it'll be before they see the threat that Steemit is and try to mimic/steal its thunder.

Shit, now that i think about it, Mark Stole the original concept of Facebook from his business partners, so I'm not surprised to see this trend continue throughout the life of it.
Facebook has become bloated, complicated and slow in its bid to be everything to everyone. The video experience on Facebook is terrible, which is why YouTube is still the premier go to website to watch video. The whole YT interface is designed to make your video experience easy, what Facebook wants push as much information on you as possible destroying the user experience. Facebook would have to drastically simplify their interface to compete with YouTube.
