 In the Middle Ages, medicine was not at a high level. And dentistry even more so.   You can imagine, when the aboriginal tooth was removed without anesthesia, then these people immediately could be counted as saints!

 Especially if the toolkit was from a repair shop or the basement of the Inquisition, as in the picture. 

  We did not have fun, but I still have to endure the pain.
