Breaking Creative Lows With The Summer Solstice
Since my grandfather passed away I have been feeling uninspired, a lack of creation, I would try and start a painting and scrap it feeling an utter loss of motivation and vison. No creation has been good enough and conveying emotions through symbolism has seemed impossible. The night before the summer solstice, June 20th, I got a random spurt of creative energy and I couldn’t let it pass with so much time having passed without painting something.
So I picked up a paintbrush and actually liked the background I created so I kept going I found myself crafting a branch for a bird to perch on, happy with the detail of the branch I continued to the bird. Painting is not easy and I often have to cover parts that look off and repair them, beak shape, eye placement it’s all very important to the overall look. It can be extremely frustrating when you have to redo something so many times, taking breaks are often necessary.
Even with all the details and redos I am feeling good about the progress on this beauty. I am glad I have been able to start a painting after months of stagnation, I can thank the summer solstice as it brings in creative flow, travel and adventure. It’s a time to recoperate and get into healthy active habits. I am embracing my gift again and look forward to my future creations.

I think art is something that builds over time. I think artists look at everything as a challenge to their skills. They look at the world as a possible art project. They study shadows, perspective, light, color etc in everything they see. So in a way you are drawing in your mind all the time.

This is inspiring and motivating for me ....I was at a stagnat point but reading this makes me wanna pick up my pen and start drawing again thanks for sharing this.
