A man with pain and swelling in his private part

A Bangladeshi patient of 28 years old came with swelling and pain in his private part (pe**s). This pain was also associated with a severe headache. He had a mild fever as well (99.1°F ).

I examined his private part, and found redness and swelling at the middle of the pe**s. He denied any recent sexual activities (He admitted to having in the past, although he was not married). But he told that he had a wet dream a few nights before.

I advised for complete blood count (CBC) test and urine routine microscopic test. Both of the results were consistent with bacterial infections. I again asked him about any recent physical intimacy with someone else but he denied. So that the source of infection was unclear.

I gave him a broad-spectrum antibiotic along with Painkillers.

Unlike women, UTI in male is not a common problem. One of the main reasons of having UTI is unsafe sexual activities! Considering my patient's history of previous physical sexual relationship, pain and swelling of the pen*s, presence of UTI and high total white cell count (suggests infection), I still believe that he had such activities recently. He most likely lied to me. Allah knows best!
