We shrink during the course of the day
Sandwiched between each vertebra of the spinal column is an intervertebral disc. These discs function as the shock absorbers of the spine, but as we go about our days, the discs get compressed and fluid is squeezed from them. (Don't worry. It gets reabsorbed when we sleep.)
