Dear Steemit-Community,

I tried different kind of Content on Steemit, which I don't really know much about.
But why don't I write about things I really know about? I'm a student of informatics and I love talking about Security and Network based stuff. Now I want to start a little series of Posts about Internet Security. Starting with generel things, moving to specialized techniques of internet security. I'd like to start with operation Systems.

Which Host System should i use ?

I highly recommend using Linux as a Host System.

here is why:

• less vulnerable to Malware (Most Malware are designed for windows as the userbase is less educated)
• Free (you don't need to pay for it!)
• Linux Kernel (less problems with new Hardware)
• Open-source (visible source code)
• Customization
• A lot of Distibutions
• Reliability
• ...

some Disadvantages of Linux:

• Compatibility (Windows executables (.exe) won't work.)
• Understanding (could be difficult at first.)
• Alternative Software (your favourite Software might not work)
• Gaming
• ...

In terms of security, which is the topic of my Blog, you might take Linux as a Host system into consideration. I'll be making articles, where I show you how you can solve some of the Disadvantages Linux has. Moreover we are building a system togheter, where you're be able to use Windows (or any operation System) and be secure anyway.

I consider to install a virtual maschine on your computer and test a distribution to get familiar with Linux, before you decide to format your Computer. In the next article I'll show you how you can install a Linux Distribution in a virtual maschine and we'll talk about some basic stuff.
