Emilyrose Fitzpatrick got married to hubby Rory on a £1,000 budget
THE average cost of a UK wedding is now more than £25,000, but one thrifty bride spent just £1,000 on her big day - and still managed to cater for 100 guests.
Emilyrose Fitzpatrick, 29, of Glasgow, Scotland, got hitched to husband Rory in a romantic ceremony wearing a £60 dress from ASOS.
The couple’s biggest expenditure was their reception, which took place at a local pub and cost £590, which included the room hire, food and entertainment.
They also spent £200 on a photographer, £50 on flowers, £30 on a wedding cake and £70 on their rings.
Emily, who is originally from Sydney, Australia, admitted she and Rory had initially planned to elope with just two witnesses present.
But the couple changed their mind when her parents decided to fly over from Oz to attend.
She told Mail Online: “We had less than four months to plan everything on a very limited budget.
“I had just graduated from art school and was unemployed.”
