Interview with a shark, @neoxian

in #interview9 years ago

Hello SteemNation. Today I don't bring you an interview with a dolphin nor a whale but with something better, a shark. No one other but @neoxian.

Maybe a lot of you remember him for his passions like upvoting comments and giving out loans but there’s yet more to discover.

The Dark Side of the Forces

Being a crypto-currency investor in search of a forum that lives on the blockchain, out of the need of diversifying and because of the reddit censorship @neoxian stumbled upon Steemit and from that point on more great things came to happen.

He had an interesting first month and even if he usually didn’t make that much on posts he got pulled in almost right away. He got involved in the flagging community where he would have to flag spam and badly targeted content. He was able to make some friends and get paid for his efforts in the same time, powering up 10000 SP within the first week.

From Minnow to Shark

For sure, having a powerful vote helps when it comes down to making a following on steemit but @neoxian’s other activities are probably more important. He’s spending at least 3 hours every day, sometimes even 5 or 6, commenting and voting a lot of great posts that are not making that much. He’s posting almost everyday about his loans, the delegation rentals, steemit lawyering, flagging spam and fraud, witness activities and commentary on the system.

I always try to be very frank and real about what I do.

The October Break

He never really gave up on Steemit but he took a break of almost three months from late October to the new year. His interest came back after the Hard Fork 16 being pleased with most of the changes, especially how it fixed the high inflation rate on STEEM. He also liked the fact that Steemit became fully open source a couple months ago.

The Bank of @neoxian

Maybe a few of you know this but his original „loan shark” post was just a joke. Trying to make a point about the fact that the pending funds from your posts are not yours yet thus the need for loans, people actually took it serious and that’s how he got into loaning money to strangers on the internet.

Even if he knows that one day, someone may scam him, he’s still doing it anyways because he believes in the importance of loans.

Witnessing Around

Out of the wish of helping out steeminas and learning more about the STEEM system he became a witness a few months ago. Even if he’s not advertising it too much he still helped a lot of people, like when it was the bandwidth problem last week he delegated power to newbies that had less than 10SP so they can continue their steemit experience and grow their accounts till the point where they don’t need the delegation anymore.

Advices For Newbies

I’ll just show you what he said.

Be real, be honest, be sincere. Post about things you find fascinating, words of wisdom, funny stories from your past. Don't get too samey either, don't be afraid to post something weird and off the wall. If you read my blog, you'll see that I often toss something weird in. Make smart comments on other peoples posts that indicate that you read and understood the post, and be generous with your vote on others. Get involved with these chats, steemit chat and Discord. Make friends, don't forget to have fun.

It’s not all about the Money

Without the money he put in, @neoxian was able to make around $150k at the current STEEM price. What’s surprising though he never cashed out money nor he powered down.

Even if it’s all on paper his involvement in this community paid of really well.

After one year on this platform @neoxian is still excited about STEEM and Steemit.

Steemit is still unique and there is nothing else like it.

To those struggling, just try to be patient, it can take time to get noticed, build up a following and hone your posting style.

I am a bit of a @neoxian fanboy my self SOLID guy! part of the steemit ecosystem that makes it great.

Thanks for the interview.

@neoxian, thanks for all the work you do. I appreciate that you are not cashing out but investing more into the Steemit community.

I am still working on building a following and honing my writing skills. Hard work, but good work.

@guyfawkes4-20, great article. Keep up the great work.

Thank you for your support. :D
Good luck with your following.

Awesome, you are really getting to some of he best names on steemit. I find Neoxian upvoting many of the posts I'm most proud of. He doesn't seem to be caught up in the same bullshit that many others get caught up in. Delegation is one kind of initiative for minnows at I can usually get behind.

I know very little about this guy though cause most of his posts are not personal, so glad to see this. Maybe for more anonymous users you can ask some questions that get more personal if they are willing to share, it'd be good to know what people are like outside steemit where they feel comfortable sharing.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll see what I can do about it in the future :D

A-plus character. Exactly the sort of guy you would have a beer with.

You have to respect the hustle. Great practical advice, particularly being real...too many sycophants and frauds out there polluting the airwaves. Thanks for the interview!

Thank you. I agree, being really is a great thing you can do. :)

So I am missing the reference, why is he a shark? Aren't sharks supposed to be predators? Neoxian is more like a leviathan whale. Rare, but friendly.

Friendly indeed. He entitled himself a shark, I like how it sounds :D

Well, I hope that if I ever find myself in the deep layers of the ocean, I meet a shark like him..

This has to be first ever. A steemit loan shark. Does @neoxian need a steemit leg breaker?

Is clear he is smart enough to keep his Steem Power. In the next years he will be millionaire from Steemit only.

I think he upvoted already some of my posts!

Congrats for this interview man with a legend of Steemit.

Thank you. Millionaire sounds great to me :D

I'm huge fanboy of neoxian @guyfawkes4-20 This article is good :D

I want to be like @Neoxian one day.

He's a great and smart guy.
