STEEMCHURCH: (Matthew 4:17)

"Since then Jesus began to preach, and to say: Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near."(Matthew 4:17)
To become a Christian, or a child of God, the first necessary step is to repent. The word "repentance" comes from the original Greek "Metanoeo" which means change of intention and change of mind ...
"and they will come to themselves in the land where they were taken captive, if they will convert, and pray to you in the land of those who captivated them, and say: We have sinned, we have done evil, we have committed wickedness;" (1 Kings 8:47)
One of the Hebrew words translated as "repentance" is "shub" which means to go back, that is, to change direction in our experience.
"Therefore, say to the house of Israel: 'Thus says the Lord God:' Repent and turn yourselves from your idols, and from all your abominations set apart your faces. ' (Ezekiel 14: 6)
"Therefore, repent and repent, that your sins may be blotted out, that the times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord" (Acts 3:19).
It is our responsibility to "repentance." We have all sinned and therefore, we all have the need to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. On the cross Jesus paid the price of our sin and brought us back to a relationship with God, but we have to repent of our sins.
"declares," but announced ..., that they would repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance." Acts 26:20
The "repentance" is not found alone, forgiveness is a spiritual twin. After experiencing our poor state in the presence of God, we need to experience the greatness of God's love and mercy. God gave us His only begotten Son so that we would have forgiveness. It cost you a lot, but this is how much you love us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." (John 1: 7-9)
There is only one way to get rid of sin and that is "confessing", with our own mouth. God forgives us if we, at the same time, take Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When we do it, God forgets that we have sinned. He erases that sin from his memory and we do not need to feel condemned or guilty, because God has accepted our "repentance".
"saying: The time has been fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near, repent, and believe in the gospel."
(Mark 1:15)
Why is not it enough to feel sorry for our sins?
