Einstein's Theory of Happiness
Whenever Einstein's name is mentioned, many would start seeing long equations and mind-boggling calculation in strange looking mathematics.
Just some few weeks ago white-haired genus had one more theory to show to the world, and it got nothing to do with maths; it is the theory of happiness.
In 1922 at a hotel in Tokyo (Imperial Hotel) a bellboy delivered a message to the physicist, but the physicist was out of money to tip the bellboy. That was the time the 43-year-old Einstein recently discovered he won a Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution in theoretical physics.
Instead, he penned two notes on a piece of hotel stationery. The scribbling was in German. He told the bellboy if he is lucky that that pieces of paper with his writing on it may fetch him some money.
The translation in English means
“A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness,”
The note went on an auction where it was estimated to fetch between $5,000 and $8,000 ended up selling for $1.56 million!
The other note was written on a blank which simply said
Where there’s a will, there’s a way
estimated at $6,000 ended up selling at $240,000
Einstein was right. It did fetch some money later, and the owner is one lucky man!
One of the most celebrated scientists of the 20th century realised the importance of happiness and deemed it worthy to use the "theory" as a sort of payment.
Choose to be happy as only you hold the key to your happiness. I just got my three hours of my time wasted by a traffic cop. It wanted to spoil an otherwise happy morning, but then I remember that those things do not define me. I opted to use that opportunity to write a post on steemit instead of getting angry at the blatant abuse of power.
Have an amazing day. Peace.

More on Einstein
The Nobel-triumphing scientist's musings, handwritten on a word, won't be as famous as his groundbreaking theory of relativity, however they nevertheless shed light on one of the great contemporary minds.
Einstein became a founding father of the Hebrew college in Jerusalem and left it his literary estate and private papers.
He declined an invitation to serve as Israel's first president.
Einstein died in 1955.
Nice work. Kindly follow back.
Thanks for this pretty awesome reply.
amazing, i looked it up and this is legit. What a man?
He wrote a lot more on happiness than those two notes. In his paper "Why Socialism" He split happiness into two parts, social and resource-based.

This is an interesting piece; it was a good read. Thanks for sharing.
Love the last paragraph.
We can solve all our problems, whatever it is that hurts us or makes us sad by just choosing to be happy.
Sadness has become sweet this days and lot of people tend to derive pleasure from it or indulge is self-pity which is alluring too but they are only momentary....
Nothing beats happiness. It's expensive and very cheap too.
That is very true. It is a part of things we could still control amongst loads of things we could not handle.
My happiness depends on God and myself. I don't let people define me. You talk about abuse of power, it's one common thing here in Nigeria. Nice piece..
Best principle to live by. Thanks a lot.
Best principle to live by. Thanks a lot.
That was brilliant idea, to actually convert anything that will kill happiness into something productive.
I leave you with this:
-Bernard M. Baruch
That's the best way to handle it.
I hope its not the lagos traffic wardens? Dont tell me you broke the rules? Maybe you would have told him about steemit too. lol
Lol. They want something I'm not ready to give :)
Hahaha. I would have given them an option to open a steemit account n help them with sp. That would be worth more. Lol.
let me just say, it takes a wise man to realize the value of whatever is given to him. Some dude would have collected the piece of paper and thrown it away.
As at then he just won a Nobel Prize in physics. If I'm the bellboy I would keep the note too.
Seriously, I'm encouraged and inspired by this post. Especially this quote
“A calm and modest life brings more happiness than the pursuit of success combined with constant restlessness,”
lesson learnt
Thanks
Einstein is more than just your average genius..he is almost like someone who somehow saw the future. Thanks for stopping by.
I totally agree..
Wow, I never heard about this story before, well written! Einstein is something else. Thanks for the share @greenrun
Thank you
