RE: Who Benefits if a Prize is paid in SP?

Oh boy. First of all, I'm infamous for giving bad advice, so you're doing this on your own risk. Second of all, I'm sure the way I do is overly complicated, a bit redundant, and pricy. But if you're desperate, here you go:

Basically we're just sending your STEEM to an exchange that trades it, then sell it for something else and send that to a web wallet. I suppose in theory that crypto exchange might be able to paypal/bank transfer directly, so maybe you're able skip the step with the external wallet, up to you.

  1. Go to https://mexc.com and sign up. I'm sure you did stuff like that before. They might ask you for a phone number and a valid email address.

  2. After successfully creating a mexc account you'll navigate the site and go to https://www.mexc.com/assets/deposit/steem and keep that form open. There should be a STEEM address and a memo identifier.

  3. Go to your steemit wallet and sign in using your active key.

  4. Click the litte triangle to the right of your STEEM balance and select transfer, to open up another form.

  5. Add the variables from the mexc deposit page. The STEEM address, and whatever number your received that was meant to be used as a memo.

  6. Click next and that's about it. Now it's a question of it going through, more or less. Just navigate to mexc and wait for the deposit to arrive.

  7. Once the deposit has arriven navigate to the markets tab and search for STEEM. There should be a little search bar somewhere above that list with other crypto currencies. Then click STEEM/USDT

  8. Now you're in the mexc market app and there should be a buy and sell option somewhere down below. That said, I don't remember the exact details, but you should be able sell whatever amount you managed to deposit. I had to try a few times until it went through but I figured it out somehow. I imagine you will to.

  9. You might have to validate the transaction using both your email account and your telephone. That's kinda tricky because both happens on a timer so you probably should keep your email account and phone ready. Again, I'm not sure, but you'll definitely will have to do that later either way.

  10. Ideally everything went OK and now you basically swapped your STEEM for USDT, which is good and bad because european exchanges apparently don't like either, but you can use that USDT to buy something else.

  11. You go back to the market tab and search for the kind of crypto you're comfortable dealing with, like lets say ETH in exchange for USDT.

  12. You're now in the market app again. Just look at your USDT balance, it's more or less equal to a dollar, and buy whatever amount of ETH your heart desires and that's about it. Now you own ETH, if god wills it.

  13. If you don't have a web wallet you might have to get one. Like metamask for example. If you use chromium you should be able to install the extension from the webstore. I won't go into details here but it's not super complicated just you creating more accounts (write down the pass phrases).

  14. If you selected ETH that should be out-of-box compatible with metamask, so you go back to mexc and navigate to your wallet and click withdraw. Click ETH and ideally you should land at https://www.mexc.com/assets/withdraw/ETH

  15. Now click the metamask icon, should be a little fox, and click receive. There should be a wallet address you're free to copy paste. Do that.

  16. Go back to mexc and paste the metamask address of your wallet and select the ETH (ERC20) network. At least that's what I did.

  17. Just fill in the other stuff and click submit. Now you'll be going through that song and dance that's meant to validate your honorable intentions. Do that. Give them what they want in a timely fashion and let that bird fly.

If everything went right you should see an amount of ETH in your metamask wallet after some pending action. That's about it. It's not that complicated actually but you'll be juggling lots of keys and passwords. Personally? I hate it. Makes me want to puke, but that's just how it is.

In retrospect I figure I potentially just could've signed up for that polymarket thing in the steem ecosphere and converted my STEEM into TRX which might play more nicely with european exchanges. Regardless it would still require another wallet, because metamask doesn't do TRX. Or I haven't figured out how yet.

Either way. Now with your ETH in your web wallet you should be able to send it to another exchange. I'm sure there's a way to do it more easily though. I feel weird just talking about it.

oh my...I have a lot to research🥲

You can safe the info for a boring, rainy day.

You did it. Total fee? Anything left.
MEXC has a steemit wallet/did they accept your Steemit walker address?

It's a ling road and I noticed those sent codes are rarely on time plus I use my phone so I have to switch pages to check...

I will try something else, and let you know. It feels to me it must be possible to swnd Steem to StealthEx swap it for whatever you like (low fees) next send it to B and B to bitvavo or coinmerce (in my case) where I can save/sel/change into euros and keep till the price drops and buy more or send it to my bankaccount. I believe that's one step less.

Question is if the swappers work woth MEXC and/or Poloniex

Thanks Kitty!

I don't remember the total fee but they were piling up. Yeah, MEXC has a steemit wallet but mostly I don't keep any money on there, but that's true for most exchanges. In terms of the swapping I don't know, couldn't make that work yet. I think I'd need bigger amounts of crypto for that to work, but then it still would feel sketchy.

Wow. Thank you so much for this information. I'm not vey familiar with some of the terms here but I'll figure it out on my own. Now all I need is money to burn..which I do not have at the moment. If I can't make it via binance, I'll probably consider your method.
