Be Discreet
So many people forget that things are judged by the way they appear. No matter what your intentions are, if they appear as dishonest or irresponsible - whether you like it or not, you've sent the wrong signals to people watching. And you must understand that, people are always watching you.
Hence, it's best you be in your best behavior at all times, when in a place where there are many people around. When you get to your room or your house, there you can be yourself as much as you like. But so long as you're in the public's eye, you have to do what is expected of you, and conduct yourself in the right manner.
Indiscretions is the best way you can drive potential customers from you. When people see that you act very indiscreet, and you act without shame, they tend to avoid you. And as you may know, when someone already avoids you, it's very difficult for that person to do business with you.
Some people may call this pretending or been a hypocrite outside, but you have to realize that your public image is very important as a businessman. You may have many bad and irresponsible habits, but as long as the public doesn't see those, then you're good - in terms of your reputation.
Always act in a trustworthy way. Present yourself as someone who is responsible, and as someone that people can rely on and count on. That way, you'll see many people that perceive you as reliable and trustworthy. Hence, they'll be more open to doing business with you.
