Crypto Academy Week 3 Homework Post for Prof @yohan2on (Decentralized VS Centralized APPS - Be Brave!)

in SteemitCryptoAcademy3 years ago (edited)

Today, we are tackling differences between decentralized app vs its centralized application counterpart. We're looking at:

Browsers

Browsers have been an integral part of the internet experience, it's the primary tool we use to go over the internet starting from Internet Explorer, way way back. We got new browsers like Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Safari, and many more.

What's the new trend in browsing? Well, decentralization is the keyword!

Introducing Brave

Browser is the most important tool you have to connect to the internet, with friends, stream and watch shows, do transactions online, maybe even do your job, especially this pandemic. That's why Brave promises to deliver what you need - performance!

Did you know that Brave loads pages 3 times faster than Chrome?

It uses 33% less RAM and can extend your battery life for up to 1 hour more.

They do this by blocking ads that track you, making loading times much much faster. Brave also runs on the same Chromium platform like Chrome does so everything you loved from chrome can be integrated into Brave with some extra love and kick on performance.

Usual browsers like Google chrome include your private information when you browse websites, this is so that Google and their partners can capitalize on it and show you ads. This compromise happens so that advertisers, companies, and others can make some cash. However, for Brave, they block ads so you're all safe and sound and lightning fast.

Brave Shield makes everything much safer for you on the internet, as you can see on the table above.

Brave also has an advanced private mode that does so much more than your Chrome's Incognito experience. They even have a built-in TOR browser for heightened secure browsing!

Be Rewarded

You heard that right, since Brave is decentralized, it is built on top of a blockchain with a native cryptocurrency called BAT or basic attention token. Unlike Chrome where your ads pay the other company, with Brave the ads you choose to view will give you a payout using BAT.

This token is readily tradeable in the market and can even be gifted to your favorite content creator or website. They also plan on setting up a marketplace I think.

Concluded!

Therefore, I conclude that Brave is better than Chrome in many aspects. It's basically a fully decentralized Chrome - where I don't think there's a downside of using. Again, Brave and Chrome are built on top of the same Chromium base and Brave has everything that Chrome has.
