We had a Pista sa Nayon or Barrio Fiesta in our office and it was fun

When you hear "pista" or" fiesta" as its more popularly called in Spanish speaking countries what images comes to your mind?

If you asked me it would be of mouth watering whole roasted pig coupled with lots of merry making usually with local fermented wine we call as "tuba or bahalina ".But since our office won't tolerate smoke or drinking our version of this includes doning traditional Filipino costume banderitas hanging, Filipino dishes and of course "sorbetero" or what we say dirty road ice cream

ASs one notices the Filipino costume like most of our customs and traditions had adapted to the needs of the modern time. From a traditional blouse and skirt it transitioned to one piece then even to a see through sexy stylized one. Simply from the dress one can have a picture that Philippines is also evolving as a nation.Filipina Women are more active in nation building and are more empowered

Buffet style characterizes this gathering.So goodbye diet in this case. Would have love to participate in competitive games but for lack of time this wasn't in the programme. Just the same I reported for work with a happy belly.

My favorite part of the event was scooping for myself homemade ice cream which brings to mind nostlagic memories of my child back then where commercial ice creams where a rare commodity. My take on this tradition that makes us Filipino? One can celebrate fiesta to show how grateful one is for being abundantly blessed without breaking the budget. Its a big misconception that lavish preparations makes it memorable. On the contrary, it's those shared stories and laughter among friends that is most looked forward to in such events. Next time you get to be invited go ahead join one and discover the warm smile and hospitality of Filipinos as they share their food and home a warm gesture of friendship.Lechon(whole roasted pig) with or without... gatherings like this can still be a blast.
Just be careful of the bad cholesterol as you dig in to its crispy pork skin. NO party is worth a trip to the emergency room. Enjoy
