A few weeks ago, I bought

the ROLI Seaboard, an awesome little midi keyboard, which included multiple sound libraries: a drum and synth library from ROLI themselves, and a free copy of Strobe2, a polysynth with TONS of great sounds, from FXPansion. I haven't used the Strobe sounds much, just here and there, but last night I decided to dive into them a bit. I also went back to Ableton; I've been having lots of fun learning Logic, but I am still NOWHERE near as efficient with it as with Ableton. Of course, there are some things that Logic does better, but Ableton is a bit easier for me to just sit down and jam in, and make quick corrections with.

There are no drums in this song,

but I think it kinda works well without them; just a bunch of synthy goodness. The basic progression is pictured below, which all the tracks are built around. Some just handle the bass notes (Tracks 4 and 5), since they have built in arpeggiator/sequencer effects, and I didn't want it to get too cluttered with multiple arpeggios happening in every direction. Tracks 7 and 8 use some lead sounds from Strobe2, which sound great. I am definitely going to be incorporating these more in the future, particularly for a retro/80s synth sort of vibe, as there is a serious wealth of choices in the Strobe2 library.
