Another song from the ol’ laptop and Ableton,

this actually turned out kind of cool. I started with the drums, with the Ableton file set to 4/4 time, but wound up with a beat in 3’s, giving it a cool groove. It sort of feels laggy, but there is a flow to it, and it sways with the 3/4 sound. However, if it was in 3/4, there would be an extra beat at the end of the last time around, making it 7, which is all fits into 4 bars of 4/4… I know that sounds intense, but basically the math works out haha.

Harmonically, the main synth tone

is playing some simple chords, just C/F, C5, and Cmin. In the chorus, the first chord becomes Bb, which is really the only change, but it makes the section more distinct.

The bass is definitely weird,

lol, but I dig it, fits with the general weirdness of the whole song. It comes a little more often in the chorus, I just used it in the verse to tie the second two sections together. I really like the tone though, super gritty and heavy, fills in the low end pretty decently.

As for melody, behind the chorus is a tiny little baby synth

playing a C minor scale from C to G. Underneath the verse is a wailing sort of alarm, that also plays in Cmin, keeping the verse interesting and filling in the outside of the song with the ping pong effect happening.
