S U R V I V E - Wardenclyffe

I figured it's time for

something contemporary, since I've doing a lot of older music lately. Survive (usually written with the spaces, which I'm gonna stop doing cause its obnoxious to type, haha) is an electronic/synthpop that was formed in 2009 by Michael Stein, Kyle Dixon, Adam Jones and Mark Donica. Wikipedia - Survive Michael Stein and Kyle Dixon have been working on this project for a decade now, though they came to fame from their credit as composers for the Netflix series, Stranger Things.

Listen to Wardenclyffe by S U R V I V E here.

This song is from the band's

2016 album RR7349, and is incredible in a few different ways. Obviously, the sounds and timbres they achieve with their digital and modular synth use are amazing, but harmonically there is SO much happening here. We have the beginning progression, which uses some wild dissonances, and later in the tune, the arpeggiated chorus section. This is where their songwriting abilities really shine for me; they move from the minor 1 to the minor b2, before the minor 4, then the 6th and 7th. This little move is SO cool, and makes it sound incredibly different than most typical synthpop.

Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
