The Doors - People Are Strange

The Doors are, without a doubt,

one of the most interesting bands of '60s, carving a path entirely their own with their intensely poetic lyrics and incredible songwriting. They were formed in 1965 in Los Angeles, CA, and consisted of Jim Morrison on vocals, Robby Krieger on guitar (and bass sometimes), Ray Manzarek on keyboards, and John Densmore on drums. They began as many groups did at the time, with a heavy blues influence, but as they evolved over the years, their songwriting, instrumentation, and general aesthetic matured a lot, allowing them to write some of the most memorable and influential tracks of the era.

Listen to People Are Strange by The Doors here.

This song is from the band's

1967 album Strange Days, and holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first full songs I learned to play on guitar, after I discovered it on a skate video, Rodney Mullen vs. Daewon Song 2. The basic chord progression is pretty simple, just i, iv, and v in the Chorus, and V, III, V in the Verse, but with all the arpeggiation and little bluesy fills, it makes things a lot more groovin'. I always loved how dark this song was, lyrically and musically, which I suppose is what appealed to my young, angsty self, hehe.

Enjoy today's song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!

This is one of many (very many) great Doors songs. Actually, I love the title track, "Strange Days," which is actually one of their lesser-known songs.

I find that of all the great 60s groups, The Doors is one whose music still seems to be relevant and contemporary.

The whole album is awesome, but yea I agree, the song Strange Days is amazing. It's really dark and creepy.
