If you're planning to take photos of the underwater, I don't even think GoPro is the best choice because you'll have to spend a fortune on accessories. You can check out an article about the best underwater camera for snorkeling, and I'm sure you'll be able to find something suitable there. Personally, I have olympus camera, but there are many good alternatives.
