The story starts out pretty silly: Kimmy is imprisoned by a cult leader when she was young. She was kept in a bunker and convinced that the world had ended outside but it was all lies. 15 years later she is let back into the world and knows very little about it.

Because she has never been exposed to modern life outside of being a child, she knows very little about life. However her naive spirit can not be broken by people that are outright mean to her because she doesn't really understand sarcasm or even when someone is being outright mean to her.

Upon being released from the bunker she was also given a lot of money (I don't remember why - a settlement of some sort, I think) and she doesn't really even understand its value, or that people would like to steal it from her.

She also accidentally lands a job as a helper with a very filthy richNew York family who has very different ideals than Kimmy does, especially the spoiled rotten daughter who Kimmy attempt to discipline because the stepmother wont do it.

There is no canned laughter or studio audience, which makes the show better in my opinion.

I may actually think this show is better than it is and so would anyone else that has a sense of humor about some of the ridiculous aspects of New York City. For the time being I am binge watching this show and really enjoying each episode. I'll report back after I get a bit further in.
