Total lockdown: day 7 of 10

NOTE: This is in the wrong community: I am aware of that. I was writing an article about a movie, saved it as a draft, and started working on something else and forgot to change the community. Obviously this does not belong in the Netflix group. Sorry about that.

Previously the tally had been day X of 7 but it came as zero surprise at all when the government decided to extend it an additional 3 days. I would bet the farm that one Wednesday (the end of the 10 days) that they extend it another 4 days because as I mentioned before; it seems that everywhere around the world loves this magic 2 week number despite the fact that there is little information to suggest that it, or even lockdowns for that matter, stop the spread of Covid.

Anyway, I am not trying to start a Covid prevention debate because I am jaded at the moment due to being locked down about as hard as you can be at the moment.

So supplies are getting a bit low and while we have been promised access to additional goods including wine (of which I have only a quarter of a bottle left) there hasn't been much done in the way of actually making this happen for people. There are reports of people that are crossing the barricades to shops that are open but not for public entry (only for government approved deliveries) and walking into the store taking what they want and then leaving the money on the counter. This isn't theft because they are paying for the items, it is just a sign that the government is not upholding their end of the bargain, and people are not going to wait for them to do so. This is the beginning stages of the people simply refusing to comply, which I would actually love to see.

I recall the last time they had an extended lockdown and a man, who I presume was very poor went out on his motorbike and sold these little buns filled with meat that are available basically everywhere normally. When the police tried to fine him, confiscate his merchandise and even his motorbike the people in the nearby buildings came out and started shouting at the police to let him go and things looked like they would get violent.

The police wisely walked away from this one because they were wildly outnumbered by something like 50 to 1.

I picked up a bunch of minced beef before the lockdown as well as a bunch of cheese but i think if the lock-in remains beyond the 10 days we will be out of all of that as well. When i am cooking these things, she of course stalks me the entire time hoping that some morsels will hit the floor (they always do and this is not an accident)

One thing that I neglected to bring with me when i moved into this "resort" of sorts was anything to do washing of dishes with. I managed to borrow some soap from one of the other residents but nobody that i spoke to has a spare sponge including the landlord - which i find hard to believe considering they have housekeeping. Therefore, I am actually quite happy that I have my little helper here for a "pre-wash" on all dishes

She gets most of the pesky hard to remove bits off the plate and then afterwards I just put some dish soap on my hand and swirl it around and voila! Good as new! Ok, this probably isn't very clean at all but since it is only going to be used by me and probably for the exact same thing the next time it doesn't really matter.

So today will be another day of Netflix, tippytapping on the computer, and probably accomplishing a whole lot of nothing of real substance. At least I am saving a lot of money on food, since we basically aren't allowed to buy any. We'll see how that changes in the next few days.

I hope things are better for you than they are for me! In the meantime I try to remember that there are a TON of people out there that have it MUCH worse than I do and keep things in perspective.
