Temples temples everywhere!

Chiang Mai is quite well known for it's many temples. I may have heard of it being referred to as the city of a thousand temples before, but I may have dreampt that.

Today I found myself a bit lost due to Google maps being incorrect and I was essentially in a small neighborhood with roads going in all manor of directions when I saw this in front of me.

This is What Nong Khrai Luang and it barely is on the map. Basically I wouldn't have ever known it was here had I not gotten lost

I wasn't dressed appropriately so I didn't go beyond the front gate.

I quite like Buddhist architecture....if that is even a thing and temples are always serene and smell nice because of the incense. What's not to love about that?

There is normally a good chance you will encounter an interesting statue or two also. In the future I will start to carry a polite shirt with me because these temples seem to be everywhere.

If you enjoy temples this is a great reason to consider Chiang Mai for a vacation i suppose.

Hahahaha definitely you will start carrying polite shirt, I think these temples are awesome they depict peace when looking at them, you've got a really good camera I must say.

i guess the camera is ok. it is a new phone and was advertised as having a great camera in it. It's nice enough!

Yes, the statues can be a mixture of styles, including Shan and Mandalay, neither of which is far from CM. I found a couple of antique markets specialising in Buddhist icons (and the ubiquitous amulets) - not sure if they are still there, one was in one of the JJ Markets car park early morning.

The architecture of such temples is spectacular and that's good of you to take care of the integrity of the temples and consider the dressing style to be important there.
Keep flourishing!

Beautiful design

Temples are so good in chiang mai.
