Ellen DeGeneres: Relatable (show on Netflix): ok, i guess

in #netflix6 years ago

Before anyone thinks something that isn't true I want you to know that I love Ellen. I have seen 2 0f her stand-up specials and i have read 2 of her books and think she, generally speaking is not just a really funny person but also quite possibly one of the most genuinely kind people on the planet. That being said, i think her new special (and it may be a series, i'm not sure at this point) ... it just isn't very funny.

Perhaps this is because of the fact that she has been on daytime tv for 15 years or the fact that I have been excited about everything she has ever done, including this. I was listening intently and really trying to like it and just simply didn't find it very funny,

Every now and then she would say something that would make me smile or chuckle a bit but recently I watched the Adam Sandler special called 100% Fresh and well, like the title of that article would suggest, I had tears in my eyes from choking on laughter. Unfortunately, Ellen's stand-up just kind of seemed like a "hey, look at me I'm still gay and you have to laugh at that" type comedy. Then she started to reminisce about how she got her start and I was a fan of hers before she came out of the closet and loved her before it and I loved her after. But i really don't like how she focused too much on that because well, I get it, it is tough to be gay and try to make it in showbiz (is it?) and you faced some really extreme hurdles to get past when you were starting out in the late 80's.... but now you are one of the most highly paid celebrities in the world and I think your victim card has expired.

Put that for the side and just think about what is funny and what isn't. This comedy special was still, obviously a lot better than just anyone's might be, but I was honestly disappointed and perhaps this has a lot to do with the fact that I expect more from Ellen than just "Hi, I"m gay and that's funny!"

Is this still worth watching? I don't know. I ended up turning it off after about 40 minutes because i hadn't laughed in about 15 mins and was actually contemplating cleaning my room instead of watching this. Maybe it is worth watching but I wouldn't say it is stellar. It isn't fair for me to rate this since I didn't watch it all but I have to say that if this is a series instead of a one-off special. There isn't much chance I am going to watch the other episodes.

I love The Ellen Degeneres show, the way she invites all the celebrities and many famous people moreover her funny games and rewarding audiences with such good gifts. and big fan of her, like the show which I miss I do watch it on youtube.
I had no idea about her episode on netflix, it's cool I will surely watch it.
Keep on sharing such good content.

I ended up turning it off after about 40 minutes..

Yes, but then the show gets really funny.

ok, I will skip this show.
You are a great help.
I wish that we could rate every show, series and movie on Netflix, that would be helpful.

well there is an awful lot of stuff on Netflix, i don't think i have enough time. or that anyone does. I wonder if netflix adds more than 24 hours worth of content each day?

Maybe because you always tend to watch her more often and often. Because it has happened to me, when you tend to watch a funny personality more often and often, the funnyness tend to reduce slowly as you will later not find him or her funny like before

With all of these good stuff, knowing you too.
