The Illusion (An Original Poem)

She smiled like an angel
On the first day of school
She said her name was Mayble
And I gazed like a fool

We were never friends
Or anything more
After she punched a kid
And kicked him on the floor

Her words were like fire
And her laugh made me sad
Don't listen to that liar
Came from mom and dad

She grinned like a troll
On the last day of school
Snot flowed from her nostril
As she grunted like a bull

I wondered if her beauty
Was ever really there
Never got an answer
Hurt my eyes to stare

That day I learned a lesson
Ugliness can't hide
And all that should matter
Is the beauty inside
