Around the Gardens This Week
The pumpkin in its annual race into the middle pasture from the Small garden
The hibiscus outside the Small garden is truly glorious this year
Early in the week the curing onions spent daily time under their “raincoat”
By the end of the week they had shed the coat and had lots of sun
In the Big garden the cleome volunteers are spectacular
The Jerusalem artichokes on the north side of the Big garden are 7’ – 8’ high and covered in flowers, no sign of powdery mildew this year
I got the roses pruned of deadwood and the bed cleaned out for the first time this year
The hydrangea outside the New Herb garden has such large flowers, they are reaching the ground
These are some of the photos I took this last week around the yard.
Today we move the pasture pen for the chickens and then I braid and hang onions to cure. If I have any energy left, I’ll load dehydrators.
