Venezuelan Government Reveals Crypto Remittance Service

in #government6 years ago

The government of Venezuela, a country that is suffering from hyper-inflation has officially launched cryptocurrency remittance service. It is being done by the country's crypto regulator, the Superintendency of Cryptoassets and Related Activities. Venezuelans can use Bitcoin and Litecoin for remittances. This money will then be available for Bolivars. However, there is a maximum limit of cryptocurrencies equivalent to 10 petros per month per person. Petro is the controversial digital currency launched by the government. While Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro claims that it is backed by oil, there is no evidence of it.
