Market Friday: The Candy Shoppe

Last weekend when my son got married, we decided to make a weekend of the joyous event. On the way home the following day, we stop at a little roadside Frontier Town that was hosting an outdoor arts & craft show.

We strolled through the arts and craft vendors' tents (and picked up some little things along the way as we are strong advocates for supporting small and local businesses) and we took some time out to walk through the little shops and stores that this Frontier Town consisted of.

I'm so glad we did! I love ambling through these little places and seeing crafts, antiques and more!

The Candy Shoppe

You could smell the sweet treats from this shoppe, as well as the bakery next door, as soon as we got out of the car.

Fudge made fresh daily to sugar free treats filled the shelves of this glorious wanna-be Willy Wonk shoppe.

I think we were in here too long (inhaling and enjoying the smell of molasses, chocolate and caramel sauce), but we did end up buying some chocolate walnut and chocolate peanut butter fudge to share with my parents.

SUCH creativity went into these chocolate candies! Look at the little rocks (colored rock candies) in the back of this pickup truck! Just adorable!

Bath Bombs Too!

There was an entire wall of bath bombs, whipped hand lotions and creams too. Lavender seemed to be the scent of the day as I saw bout 90% of the homemade items for sale had lavender as the main ingredient and fragrance.

I could have stayed in this shoppe much longer, but Mr Golden D was anxious to go watch the Corn Hole Competition across the field.

Come back tomorrow to see the Country Store we stopped in at to browse too! That place had me swooning!

This looks like a cool little shop. It reminds me a lot of the places around the Northern part of the state. We used to go to a place like this in Curtis near Newberry in the UP. My wife has an uncle that makes fudge and goes all over the South to county and state fairs making it in a booth.

Yes anywhere north of Frankenmuth (Mackinaw City and Island) all those fudge and pasty shops!

I haven't been to the UP in about 20 years- we spent a week up in Houghton/Hancock and over by the Pictured Rocks camping. I sure miss that privacy

We are heading up to Marquette to camp in about a week.

There is nothing better than visiting a fresh candy shop :) I love watching them make the fudge on those huge marble slabs. Truly an art form I'm sure it was tough to leave without buying something...I'll take one of these, and these, lol Congrats on your son's wedding, what a great weekend @goldendawne!

Oh I know! I can remember watching them through the windows of the candy store... such an art to be a fudge-maker!

Wow, I love looking at cute stuffs!
