Healthy Meal Replacement Shake Made At Home

Fad diets? Losing weight can be challenging. Eating healthier can difficult.

I'm not one for fad diets. They rarely work. If you eat particular foods with a high fat content, then you stop eating that food... your body gets frantic and most times the 'fat' comes off and weight loss is achieved. But what you may not know is that your body is in a tizzy. Basically, your body starts eating itself.

Say you like to eat salty potato chips (which are high in fat and empty calories) so you stop eating them; as well as other fatty foods because you found this 'eat a dozen hard-boiled eggs a day" or the cabbage soup diet because people swear by it. Well, you have been feeding your body one thing. Only certain nutrients. Then you have a 'free day' where you can eat whatever you want, whenever you want. Your body greedily accepts the 'free day' but then it starts hoarding the fat and carbs from that day. Because your body is thinking, "what if I only get eggs for five days? I have to stockpile this fat and these carbs."

Bad thing is, when you do go back to regular eating, you'll have gained back the weight; plus more because now you've put your body into the mindset that it may get starved again.

This happened to me a few years ago. I was depressed, in a bad relationship and all but stopped eating. I survived off of coffee, water, a few nibbles of useless calories here and there and dropped 45-lbs. Well, I picked myself up, left the relationship and fought the depression, then gained the 45-lbs back plus an additional 15.

So recently in my youtube ventures, I came across a homesteader, Starry Hilder, and follow her faithfully. (She's full of great advice). She recently posted a meal replacement shake and I thought... "hmm, why not?" So I tried it.

I've only been drinking it for about ten days and I feel less bloated, less hungry to snack and eat empty calories. I'm not sure if I have started to lose weight or fat (in a more healthy way) but I can honestly say I feel as if I have more energy and my mindset is healthier. Maybe I should have done a before/after head to toe picture comparison.

Here she is in the youtube video showing you how to make it.
