Childrens Hospital Donations progressing

Over this week I've been digging into different childrens facilities who would be willing to receive our donations.. The Lady Cilento Children hospital in Brisbane is over the moon to be approached for our donations.

I've copied the email from the lovely lady I'm dealing with there down at the bottom of this post.

When I mentioned we wanted to do colouring pencils and books she was really happy as many people don't donate this kind of stuff, so at least we will know they will be well appreciated.

As far as attaching out brochures, we aren't allowed to do this, but she has said that she will circulate our brochures throughout the staff of the hospital. If anyone wants to donate $5K to me, I'll purchase a laser engraver and brand the pencils with the steemit website. :)

So this is good, we now have the What, Who and Why, we just have to find the products at a major discount and deliver.

If anyone is feeling generous after the good run we've had with Steem Conversions, feel free to send a whole wad of Steem over to the Team Australia account to help us buy more and deliver to more sick kids.

Hi Mike

Thank you so much for the brief chat late yesterday afternoon, and apologies for catching you as you were running out to dinner. I just left a message on your phone, but I thought I'd send you an email with information regarding in-kind donations as my colleague Nicky said you would like to purchase items to help support children in hospital (using donations from your community). Thank you so much for thinking of the children in hospital, that is very generous of you!

Attached is a set of guidelines around toy donations. It includes very important information about the types of toys we cannot accept, which includes pre-loved toys and games. Due to strict infection control policies that are in place to protect our children with severely compromised immune systems, we are only able to accept brand new and recently purchased toys and games.

The guidelines provide a list of suggestions of toys that are often in demand. In addition to that list, we regularly get asked to supply the following items to the wards and outpatient clinics to help with distraction during procedures or treatment - and the children also get to keep this item as a reward.
Little bubbles
Small containers of Play Doh 50g tubs
Small colour pencils & colour book
Small sticker / activity books
We are also currently in need of:
plastic tea sets
activity or craft packs in sealed packaging
toys that light up (but do not contain button batteries)
board games that can be played in bed by young kids up to 18 year olds
'cause and effect' toys for 18 month olds that don't contain button batteries (e.g. Fisher-Price's Tappy the Turtle: when kids tap on the shapes with the mallet, Tappy’s head pops out of his shell with a “boing")

We are also in need of brand new clothing and travel sized toiletries for children and their families who arrive at the hospital in crisis and don’t have any personal items on them (e.g. families that arrive by helicopter).
Travel sized toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotions, deodorant, and toothpaste) toothbrushes, sleep masks, and unused long flight toiletry packs or hotel shampoos and conditioners
T-shirts, shorts, skirts, pyjamas, underwear, shoes (thongs) for all ages from babies to teenagers

I've attached a map showing the 'general set down & taxi drop off¹ off Raymond Tce for when you're ready to donate the toys. You can drop off any time between 9am – 6pm Monday to Friday and 10am – 3pm Saturday and Sunday. Please call us on 3068 1662 to let us know when you are coming so we can be available to collect your very generous donation.

Thank you so much again for thinking of the kids in hospital, and please don't hesitate to call or email if you have any questions at all.

Warm regards

Well done Gohba! I reckon we get stickers made up with steemit details and stick them on the pencils and the books - Like a "With Love: Team Australia - Steemit.com". I'll start looking.

Hey Mate, the proceeds from the MOTU series were 22.176 in Steem Power. I've rounded up to 25 SBD and will transfer that to teamaustralia. Keep up the awesome work!

Thats awesome mate. thanks so much!!!

Great job. This is awesome. #thealliance

un trabajo muy interesante e inspirador

Do we just send SBD to @teamaustralia?

Yes please send anything directly to @teamaustralia
Thanks 😁😁

Great! Sent 1SBD today. More to com!e

Good job mate. I am a bit absent at the moment but will pitch in more where I can when I return!

G'day Troops, sorry but I missed this post. Too busy with work.
Great effort you're all putting in.

As much as I hate to say it, I think the only option to get books and pencils at the prices we can afford, is to go directly to China.

We own a small newsagency and I have been in touch with all our suppliers and the prices are way too high to do anything with meaningful volumes. Some of them are willing to do a bit of a discount or throw a few free ones in but it's not much help in the big scale of things.

Maybe, if somebody had a couple of hours to spare they could do some searching on Alibaba or Aliexpress Wholesale?
Some of them have minimum order quantities but you can generally get around that. I reckon that for 500 USD you could probably get about 1,000 sets?

Here's an example I found with a quick search - I reckon there will be plenty that could be suitable. https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/2016-hight-quality-wholesale-cheap-color_60424256733.html?spm=a2700.7724857.main07.295.25862192LXdvYW

Sorry, I don't have the time to do it. I'm just having a bit of fun here on Steemit for an hour or so and then it's back to the grind for the rest of the weekend.

If somebody finds something suitable, I'm happy to help with the importing process through our business.

Sorry for the slow reply, this sounds like a good idea, I'll do some digging.
