Becoming better with your cooking.
There's a saying that practice makes perfect yeah, everyone want's to become perfect in their skills, remember what is worth doing is worth doing well, that's it.So cooking is no exception too. If you always find yourself hopeless in the kitchen; like everything else, practice, do it again and again so as to increase your knowkedge, one day along the line you might become perfect cook. Cooking its never a daunting task, i mean its in the mind, all you need to know is the basics of cooking and i promised you gonna cook well.
It is important when you increase your knowledge of cooking since you already knows the basics and you are interested in getting more knowledge of your skills. Search for the recipe on the internet or cookery book, read them althrough even if its a recipe or meal you think you've perfected on. There are often many ways to prepare a meal and achieve the same results. There are a whole lots of new things to learn.
Most times when i eat a familiar meal and i noticed an improvement in the taste, i try to imagine what the cook added to the meal to achieved such taste and if i could'nt figure it out myself, i go ahead to ask the cook for more explanation on that.
Plan what you intend to cook ahead of time so
as all the necessary ingredients will be put in place for preparing the recipe.
Knowing the right time to add a certain ingredients goes a long way to making your food taste. I guess this is one of the top tips of become a better cook. Yes you may know all the ingredientyou need to use, spend alot in buying those ingredients but still get the wrong timing and all the money and time goes to nothing but waste.
Alot needs to be done even before you light up your cooker for example take your time and cut up every vegetable that needs to be chopped, place them in a saperate bowl and set it aside. This is done so that once it is time to add them, they will be readily available it's better than hurridly washing and cutting them up to add them.
Be attentive for how your cooking can benefit from low, medium, or high heat for example sometimes you need high heat to get that JOLLOF rice to drain quicker as low heat will cause it to be soggy.
It is essential to have your utensils ready in the kitchen just like the chopping board it will help you to cut the carrots or green bell pepper but it may be worth investing in the blender for best tomato puree.
Endeavour to give yourself lot of time to cook your chosen recipe with practice , you can actually estimate the time you spend to cook, lets say a pot of yam porridge before it is meal time. When you do this, there is actually no need to rush through your cooking.
When you practice to cook always, the more you learn better ways in the art of cooking. Once you know how to cook it boost your confidence in the kitchen. Lets's say you cook MOIMOI every weekend , you will be perfecting on the different stages, of preparing such as peeling and washing the beans more than preparing it once in a while.
We are all great cooks, you just need a little more learning and sharpening of your skills to perfect your kitchen practice
I hope this drags you closer to your kitchen . Let's hear how well you are doing now.
Am sure after this, am gonna learn to get closer to the kitchen.
