RE: Ancient philosophy. Anaxagor - the reconciliation of the teachings of the Elates with the teachings of Heraclitus

in #godflesh6 years ago

Well, Anaxagor was searching for the reason in the world but It remains a question of how far Anaxagoras, having discovered the expedience and reasoning of the world, has succeeded in explaining everything through it. In this respect, Plato and Aristotle reproached him for disappointing them. For the beginning of the movement and the device he sought the assistance of "nous", and for the further changes sought an explanation in the very properties and qualities of the matter. Here is the inconsistency in it. In fact, precisely here, the philosophical depth and objectivity of Anaxagoras has been expressed, for it really explains much by the properties of matter, but having explained the theological properties themselves: as being created by reason, not by chance, and as being existing for certain purposes. And if that is the case, it is neither possible nor necessary to start looking for something individually, what is its purpose and what its meaning is. I think from this is where his influence comes from.

I have never heard about this book and I will see it. Thanks!

Yes, the emanation of the One (En) in Neoplatonsim really depicts your above explained influence. I will now bring out a vast generalization, but one can follow a tendency for decreasing a value of person in Greek thought, in order to epmhasize its harmony in unity (which is often the one that isnt fond of freedom of individuals).
Thanks!
