Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache (2004)

in #music5 years ago

This is a landmark studio work of one of my favorite metalcore bands. And it highlights, because its ranks are replenished two new members at once: Howard Jones - vocals and Justin Foley – drums.

Many KSE fans were dismayed by Jesse Leech leaving the vocalist post. It can be said that the future of the group was uncertain. But guys managed to recruit Jones from Blood Has Been Shed, which turned out to be a great move. Howard brought something new to the band's music, and some of the tracks from "The End of Heartache" were dismantled on the soundtracks of various films.

“A Bid Farewell” is worthy to stand at the beginning - song is really cool. Gloomy intro, tempo toughening, excellent chorus. “Take This Oath” is waiting for a surprise in the face of the unsinkable Jesse Leech (he creates group after group and is not tired) - he is responsible for the chorus here.

The pressure only increases, as hurries "When Darkness Falls". This is the very first thing Howard invented at a new place. Advantages, as always, the same - the chorus, riffs, melodies. By the way, the composition has become a soundtrack to "Freddy VS Jayson".

The fourth track, “Rose of Sharyn”, is considered by many to be almost the best of Killswitch Engage, but I am not among these people. Minute acoustic "Inhale" and "And Embers Rise" - one of those vague things that seem to sound beautiful, but they are extremely small.

But you do not have time to think this thought out as enters my beloved “Breathe Life”. I think this is the most interesting song in the tracklist. There is a solo in it, so it stands out above the rest of the songs with a sort of “racial” superiority. However, this solo, unfortunately, is fluent and not thought out.

“The End Of Heartache” is a song I went crazy about for four years. I found it in the Paul Anderson film “Resident Evil: Apocalypse” and realized that I want to listen to just such music.

“TEoH” is truly revealed on the Set this World Ablaze DVD. This is where Howard tried, and the others did not fall behind. After all, KsE belong to the category of typical concert groups - they all live better than in the studio. Compared to their “live” versions, songs from this work sound a little callous and not so vigorous, although their level is so high.
