Although the fig tree does not flower, nor there is fruit in the vines; although the product of the olive tree dwells, and the fields do not produce food; even if the flock is exterminated from the madrilla and in the corrals it has not won, nevertheless I will rejoice in the Lord, I will exult in the God of my salvation. Habacuc, 3.17,18

When Habacús uttered these words hundreds of years before Jesus, perhaps he had no idea that even after thousands of years his words would become extremely current as they are today.

The religious world has been immersed in theologies, fantasies where more and more we see the eyes turning towards man and not towards God. We lost the balance between Theocentrism and Anthropocentrism and we immersed ourselves deeply in an inhuman humanism. Everything has become valid, as long as it's good for me.

A Machiavellian gospel emerges, where ends have justified the means and with the blessing of God!

In a time when prosperity and greed have invaded the churches, proclaiming financial blessings at all costs, I am left thinking about the words of Habakkuk that become so alive today.

Habakkuk talks about 3 well-known trees in the Bible: Fig, Vine and Olive.

In the biblical texts the fig tree refers to the healing (2Rs 20.5-7) the vine, which produces the wine, refers us to the blood of Jesus and therefore to salvation and finally the olive oil that produces, much used to make the oils of the anointing makes us apologize for the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Habakkuk tells us that even though I do not see a cure for my illness, even though he believes that there is no salvation and even that such a great affliction arises that he does not recognize the voice of the Spirit, he would still rejoice in the Lord. Even if there was no livestock or sheep and hunger knocked on his door, however, he would not forget the Lord and that would not be a curse, but shaped by the creator.

The prophet shows us that life can be difficult or not. No matter the circumstances. What is of interest is white, and this is not material goods, friendships, fame or health, its focus has been and always will be the LORD CREATOR.
