Squirrels Aren't The Only Pranksters In Nature

in #freewrite5 years ago

I tell you man, they're up to something!

What are you talking about?

You've seen the GEICO mini-documentary, right? The one where a squirrel runs out into the middle of a country road and causes a car to swerve and crash offscreen while the critter and its fellow high paw each other.

I don't think that's a documentary...

I tell you it's real, and those rodents down there are plotting something against us.

A hill of prairie dogs?

Yes, man. They're pure evil!

Dude. What are you talking about? I just want to get in some mountain surfing. Leave the drama behind for a while, okay?

Okay. Don't say I didn't warn you. If something goes awry, it's not my fault! Blame it on them!

I have no idea why I keep accepting your invitations to do things. You're crazy!

We'll see who's crazy.

BA-BOOM!

What the... Oh, no! Brandon! Oh, no! Oh, no! I can't believe this! The prairie dogs just blew up Brandon!

Hey, man, you okay?

Didn't you hear that? There was an explosion, just as my buddy Brandon was heading down. I think it blew him up.

You mean that tiny poof, kind of looks like swirls of cigarette smoke, way down there?

No, that's the prairie dogs lighting it up in celebration! He's dead, dude! My friend is dead, and the prairie dogs murdered him!

Brah, haole lolo.

What did he say?

Sorry, man, this is Hawaii. We don't have prairie dogs. Chickens and cockroaches. No prairie dogs.

Ah, come on. You didn't hear the explosion?

Shoots den.

What?

We hope you find your friend. Later, man.

I can't believe this. No one else heard it? That's impossible... I...

Hey. You okay?

No, I'm not. I just watched you die, okay. Stupid imaginary prairie dogs blew you up... Brandon?

You don't look so good.

Brandon, is that you? But how? I watched you...

I just went down the hill. It was awesome. You should try it.

And get blown to smithereens? No way. I won't do it.

You've been taking them again, haven't you?

Taking what? The only thing I've been taking is a trip to worriedville.

The Baby Time bath salts. You've been snorting those again, haven't you?

Uh, no. Why would I do that? We both know what happened the last time.

You thought a throw pillow was going to suffocate you and you almost decked your grandma with it.

Wait. Woah. Did the earth just stop spinning? I'm feeling a little light headed. Like I'm floating. Catch my soul! I think it's trying to come out of my body because there's no gravitational pull.

Okay. You're certified. I'm going down the mountain again.

Go, then! Leave me in my time of need! I'll have you know I changed brands, too! It's called Wonder Bubbles.

Later!

What do you think we should do to the haole next?

How about we go talk to him.

Yeah, that will drive him even more lolo! Let's go!

I'm certainly giving it a go, @wonderwop, but I don't know if I'm mastering anything. This one was a little more wayward than others, so I can't say I acheived with it what I might have hoped. Anyway, thank you for the kind thoughts. I do appreciate them greatly. :)

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 11 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 4 SBD worth and should receive 187 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.

Good to read the Squirrel's chatting. :)

Yes, it is, @rem-steem. They do their best to keep humankind on their collective toes. :)

haha! Great job of incorporating all those prompts sir Glen!

Hey, @janton.

I do what I can. :) Sometimes the story flows from one to the next, other times they need to be shoehorned, but hopefully never forced to the point where I'm just making the rounds.

Well I don't even know how it works, ideally you are supposed to write a short story every day and incorporate a prompt? But if you're skilled enough you can do one a week and include all the prompts in one story? lol.

Yeah. So there might be someone else who has done it the way I've been doing it, but for the most part, the majority are taking a prompt and coming up with something to write about. Some of it is fiction, some of its nonfiction. Just kind of depends on what a person fancies at the time, or how the prompt leads them.

I think a lot of people could do the multiple prompt way if they chose to. It's not terribly hard. In some cases, I've gotten kind of outlandish, just because there were some prompts that kind of come from left field when done in conjunction with others. For me, that's the fun part. Looping everything in what hopefully is a coherent, if not fun and engaging story.

Howdy tonight sir Glen! yes, I think it would be a challenge and I think few people can do so many at one time.
How was work today, easy?
