Me and My Dad
My dad is my hero. He is a great man and is 20 years older than I am. He and my mother got married very young. They were practically kids when I came along and I had a wonderful childhood. My parents were young and full of energy. We went on fun trips and they spent a lot of time with me and my younger sister.
He gave me a lot of freedom as I was growing up. He taught me to drive his worktruck when I was only 8 years old and in the second grade. He took us all to church and made sure we had the opportunity to learn about God. When it was time for me to go to college he won awards at his workplace and made enough money to pay for my college.
He and my mom are retired now and live in New Mexico and travel a lot. I am very proud of him and his success in life. This is a picture of him last month and he is 70 years old. My picture is on the left and I just turned 50 years old. Most people think that we look more like brothers now. I am only jealous of one thing. I bet you can tell what that might be by looking at the picture. I have no idea why he got to keep his hair and mine disappeared. Maybe it was because of my prideful mullet back in the 80’s.
Seriously, i doubt his age....looking 50 though, handsome and strong....You have got that from him Sir, The baby face...
We need more people like this to be great fatherly examples.
I really like this post givonwayne!
That's a lovely post Wayne. It is so nice to hear about happy families. Your dad certainly looks well and he has retained his hair colour as well as his hair, which is even more unusual. Thanks to you and your dad for sharing.
