The Witcher 3 - Second Run
Hey There Fellow gamer steemers,
The Witcher 3 is one of the most popular, best thought of games of the last few years. Everyone likes it. Everyone keeps saying they like. All the time. So, I decided to check it out a second time, hype in hand, to see if it lives up to it all.
Like three months in between me playing The Witcher 3 I play it for a few hours and then I just don't feel the attraction to it and I put it down and leave it for a few minutes now with this game being one of the most beloved games throughout the whole of the whole of the game industry I'm thinking like there must be something that I miss in which is why I went to sit down with a couple of my gaming guys so to play it with them so that they could explain to me or I could get that feeling from them.
Yeah so one of the most staple comments and everywhere whatever game anybody’s talking about there's always someone in the comments like this isn't as good as The Witcher 3 oh it's not the same guy like we should point out it's many many many many people so I was thinking it's now built a lot of hype and it's my expectation in my head been raised so much if I go back to it what what's it going to be like because I remember in fond memories of it but seeing all these people still four years means banging on about, God what's it that good so let's find out that's the introduction all the way yeah.
I've gotta say so The Witcher 3 is so far is even better the second time now the reason being you know what to expect so you've got you know Geralt the fucking Clint Eastwood of video games a stone-faced on the surface a bit of a boring bastard cocky little like you know something Batman or whether but no when you know in from playing your games that you revisit that psycho you don't know it's this bit assist it what's weird is like a lot of games like this a lot of high fantasy showy things like you know films that The Lord of the Rings and stuff the first time you see it is normally the best time because it's like a spectacle yeah and then the second time you're like girl is going to be this more about a character gotta move the social about this game that it's like ah it's just the edge buddy in the chat on Twitter watching gasps OH can't wait for this next coming up this there's a level of variety to us that's just pretty and parallel and that's one of the main strengths you ask anyone is through side quests as the NPC's ooh who explained problems that like oh I need seven berries please go get them it's none of that shit it's like if there ever is anything like that Geralt will say what do you think I am I'm a monster hunter I'm not going to go around looking to Harry's food but then he'll be like final fucking like heroes it's like all the interactions are memorable because there's so many there's so many different things it is something different monsters have different situation.
I think the way they've approached this game is that they've wrote a story based on characters existing in the world yeah rather than build a plot twist and a story something like fallout 4 for example weathers like the twist towards the end yeah they wrote that story and they wrote the characters afterwards with The Witcher they vote the characters first and that means you can put these well written characters into nearly any situation and it's exciting so and you want to know what happens so obviously the huge amount of content in this game is what it's almost unprecedented really I start the game again I've tried to play a different style and I did last time and I found quests that I haven't done before guarantee that I'd miss any RPG worth its salt you'll go back to it you'll find stuff you haven't done before you'll find quest so that's the sign of a good RPG in my book if there's stuff that you makes you go holy shit I missed this that's like a key ingredient you know which is definitely got that in spades easy to do when you've got over a hundred hours of gameplay that absolutely yeah that's what it's that's what it's about though.
If you've got these big open areas where you go to you might miss villages you might miss like a notice board that's got job on it that you just didn't then you follow that and it's a really interesting side quest you know that there's a lot that you could have it what it is it's like the one quest that I found at the very beginning I hadn't done was something about like some dwarf and like someone burned down his house oh yeah and you have to go in fact yeah oh yeah it's a side clicker you remember it from CBS that's what I'm talking about.
You don't get that with all the games we own you know if I arrived in zero dawn I couldn't name you five sides left us thus thus very true and and I love no slight on horizon because it's great but honestly the main thing that pulls that game together is the plot on the game but both the widget and nearly every quest people can remember it oh it's that one ooo the one when you've got a killer tree oh yeah I remember yes and this kind of memory that you don't really know that you've got you've just it's in there so when someone reminds you of it you're like oh my god yeah except that's the thing discovering just one exercise class yeah is it discovering one memorable thing about this game and revisit in it is been something meaningful to continuing with and going and then knowing it when I do finish the game again I'll have an expansion to play well.
I think I played hearts of stone but not sort of mine so I'll have at least one but and I just can't really express how what the game is aged very well yeah that's kind of why I was gonna say I was wondering if you guys know any other games like it's really games that you've played they've been better on a second run so no playing maybe a couple years here you go to the Play games multiple times only actually have to play daily from mission to want alright old quantum break my thinking of quantum break don't like my food go through Resident Evil 7 yeah that was a bit but how many times was that about five or six and by the time I'd finished it once yeah I just ran through the whole speedrun thing you know yeah no you nailed it and he did a good job or whatever you go yeah.
I think I got the trophy for it as any game you played and you've enjoyed it more the second time and that when you know what's happening there's normally a game a film for example yeah it does this sort of thing it's because it's so obscure and twisty and turny that you enjoy the second time because you know what's happening but this game is like something else you appreciate you more but well nice or republics online like ad because and I don't like to sorry because I know I know I know which you can choose which plan you want to go to next and stuff and I know I've got motivations for going to certain pious and certain orders and I want to see these characters and on talk I thought of why I just want to have that interaction again.
And yeah so that probably not so Republican Skyrim maybe Rico about anyone Fallout New Vegas for me I'd yeah for an RPG yeah yeah yeah I'm sure I've strategy games because strategy games that you can't learn in on the first playthrough yeah let's definitely strategy games yeah yeah that's because you've got your knowledge down on the engine I think that's one of the beauties of RPG and and that's one of the only criticism as soon as The Witcher is that is it a true RPG.
Because traditionally like an RPG is you make a character like fallout prism like you make character he's whoever you want and you play hard you want but in this you are taking on the role yeah of Geralt of Riviera and and is an action is very action focuses in the commbuys some very bad you can change your signs you've got your queen or whatever if you declare master race you've got other signs as or lesser signs if you're like I said if you prefer to set people on fire and suffer but you really do take on the role of gun and here's how you play like this you can be to your detriment you can kind of say oh here you are villager I've helped you I don't want any money from you normally they're all horrible everybody in the world is horribly they split earlier when you walk box so to summarize this hey it doesn't sound very intelligent at all but it was oh wow isn't this game good again you know I mean two years is so late well.
So the question to ask is really how long is this game going to go down the memories of people I think forever it's like half-life half-life 2 actually is kind of a similar thing is better a second time I reckon especially with all the updates and graphical package yeah look I know it's I think The Witcher is one of these games that come out and I don't I don't think it's going to be dislodged for a long time to go I think they'll look after as well they've they've already you know the amount of post-launch stuff they've done that's part of the reason why it's grown in stature for me as well all the free stuff they gave away all the free you know the items that they gave away the expansions are very very good expansions they got you know that especially good Mario obviously is held up was like well there's no blood and wine which is exactly the kind of comment you're talking about you know it's no witcher 3 its no blood and wine is the one when it's like the dlc isn't that good you know what isn't that big so they look after it very well post-launch i think I think you know i wouldn't be surprised if in two or three years time they finish work on cyberpunk however and they're like we just released like a high-res texture thing for a new kind of evolve did with half-life and it just adds a factor you know respect they know that that's what they came from but I think the real essence of what I'm saying is I played the game when it first came out after all the years now of hype and the bars raised and I went back and I was really pleased to see yeah better a second time well I urge anyone listen in if you've not played The Witcher in a long time you made me play on release though ever go back and play and just remind yourself how much you love games in general and this game is good.
