SHELLS AND SEAWEEDS
Hello my dear Steemians, it's market Friday again! I'm back at Sta. Teresita, Cagayan, Philippines, and as usual I have seen many uncommon stuffs.
Now, I'd like to share with you shells and seaweeds, which are native in this part of our country. Some of which I've seen for the first time and don't know the English name. But I'd like to share it with you all anyway. 😊
These are the shells I've seen:
Local name: Gakka
Local name: Susù
And these are the different seaweeds:
Most of these are eaten raw, dipped in vinegar with onions and ginger, but some are also cooked. I have always thought that seaweeds are never cooked, but as always, I'm wrong again. Travelling now is my great teacher!!
The market vendors here are super friendly. As I was excitedly taking pictures of shells and seaweeds they sell, one of them said, "Why are you only taking pictures of the things we sell and we're not included?" Hahaha! I'm very happy to obliged! And their neighbor vegetable vendor asked the same!!!
Hope you enjoyed this market, as I do.
This is my entry to #marketfriday hosted by @dswigle.

I love your wonderful market! I have never seen so many different seaweeds displayed at once! You really did an awesome job of photographing them. I love that your vendors wanted to be included. It truly makes it a more personal picture.

I loved it, too. I would love to participate again next week!!! Thanks for this fun #MarketFriday, Denise. 😊
The only seaweeds I know are the ones called "lato", "goso" and the one they used to make gelatins, I don't know the name. Hehehe
Yeah! But they have those that are to be cooked, hairlike seaweeds (black and brown at that!), and many more that I haven't seen! 😂
