Gold Shilling on Steemit

One of the things that truly baffles me about steemit is the barrage of gold shills on this site.

Most of the other phenomenon here are pretty standard for the internets. Crypto speculation, cat pics, food porn, real porn... These are all what you would expect of a normally behaving Internet community.

Even the conspiracy theory junkies don't stand out more than 4chan or Twitter.

Gold shills, on the other hand, where do they come from? I can't imagine they're futures trades trying to pump their investments. Gold isn't that liquid either so it's not like they can react if gold prices do move up.

As it turns out, gold made the news today as a fat fingered trade sent gold prices reeling. So much for investment advice from the Internets right?

Anyone got a lead on this?
