Cake Fails To Cheer
Yummy Raspberry and Vanilla Cake
There's not much that a good cup of coffee and nice piece of cake can't help to improve but, alas, today was one of those days when even my favourite afternoon indulgence failed to hit the spot.
Did I enjoy the cake? Yep! Did I enjoy the coffee? Yep! Did I return home revitalised and raring to go? Nope!
The internet problems and posting frustration got the better of me so you'll have to wait another day for the post I've been working on. If I can't get the layout right tomorrow I'm just going to have to post it as it is. 😢

So, what kind of formatting issues are you having? Related to markdown? Would it be worth even to see if I could help?
Don't know what to do about internet problems. Until we have a decentralized way of getting on to the net, IPs are always going to be a pain!

Thanks for your offer of help with the formatting. I gave up trying to use markdown as I wanted to add some photographs to the left or right of text. I switched to html. But I can't get steemit.com to work with html and I can't get busy.org to show me what it will look like before I post.
It's too late to do anymore now anyway. I'm about to go to bed.
With regard the internet in the cafe, I will try it once more tomorrow and if I can't connect then I'm going to have to find a different cafe which would be a shame. 😢

Okay, well, I'm sorry you're having the problems. I take it you couldn't get markdown to do what you wanted it to do, since it's supposedly does place images left or right (haven't tried it so I don't know how well it works).

I thought it looked like carrot cake too but I don't like carrot cake much these days so I knew it couldn't be and then I noticed the raspberries in the filling so I made it up. After more thought I decided it was probably raspberry and courgette although it looks the wrong colour for courgette.
There's another vegetable they use in cakes but I can't think of it at the moment. Maybe it's that one.
My understanding of markdown was that you cannot place images left or right with it and people are using html to do that. Please let me know if you find out differently. 😊

No luck with the internet so no image arranging today. It's too late now for me to do that sort of post.
I managed to persuade my son to come to the cafe with me and he spent more than an hour trying various things that I wouldn't know to do but he couldn't get it to connect either. I suspect something on my computer must have been changed with a Windows update since it was working a few weeks ago.
Although, if that was the case, you'd think other people would have the same problem so that can't be it. I have no clue. Neither does the cafe manager who had a good go yesterday trying to sort it out and neither does my son. So I'm going to have to find another cafe to work in. Seems a bit drastic but there it is!
I need to get out of the house more and I find I can write more easily when I'm in a cafe.
I'm going away on Thursday for the long weekend so I'll probably wait until next week to begin my search for a new work venue. Hmmmm. That won't work too well though because my post that is waiting to be completed will be more than a week and a half old.
Perhaps I'll go out first thing . . .
Anyhoo . . . I need to find some photographs for a couple of contest and catch up on comments.
Oh yes, and there's still a load of family stuff I need to organise. It's a bit busy, busy here at the moment.

My day has been decent so far. It's not quite 9 AM as I'm writing this, so there's still plenty of day to go, though it does go pretty fast.
When I used a Windows machine, I used to stop automatic updates for the very reason that some setting would invariably change. I eventually switched over to Mac because of a lot of reasons, but fewer updates was one of them. Lately, though, they've been updating quite a bit more.
That's strange about the WiFi connection. If there's no password (which I'm guessing there's not) and the café's WiFi is showing up on your device, then it should connect. There isn't a whole lot left to do after that.
Trouble is, if you go somewhere else, there's no guarantee that things will be any different. So, as long as you know that's the case, you'll at least be prepared for the worst and be thrilled if it actually works for some reason. :)

There is a password as you have to have an account to be able to connect. It's one of those accounts that a number of businesses use so it will be interesting to see whether I can get on or not in another Cafe that uses the same provider.
To get into the service you connect and then it routes you to the browser and does something automatically if you already have an account.
If was fine a couple of weeks ago but now it just keeps telling me there's no internet connection, even there there clearly is.
We will see what happens tomorrow . . .

Your cake looks devine however if your not in the right frame of mind it just doesn't hit the spot.I use the e steam app to post my blogs.It can be fustrating just to get the layout right.It can be very irritating indeed! I am sure whatever you put up will be fantastic.👍🏼👌❤
Do you find the esteem app friendlier to use for blogging than steemit.com? I have esteem on my phone but use it for its notifications... havent tried posting with it...
I do actually find it easier then steemit app on my phone. Even sorting the layout and inputting photos are alot easier for me.I toggle between the two.To comment on existing followers i use the steemit feed.To comment on new posts i use E Steem.Also on E-Steem shows your exact rep score.An example I am at 41.32 where as steemit will have 41.
It honestly depend what your comfortable with.I know many that prefer using their laptops.I just use my phone for convinience.If i bought my laptop out my kids would just attack it.lol

With having my 4 very exciteable kids i am unable to take my laptop out without it being destroyed🤣.I take all my photos on my phone.So it is easy just to input it on the e steem.I find it very old school as it is still on beta.Hopefully once it passes that stage, we will have a better format set.In the mean time i will carry on eating cake!!! To get fustrated just for my blog's sake.🤣🤣
I have esteem on my phone but I haven't used it yet @pamcooks. I'm so bad at texting I'm sure I'll make a pig's ear of it. Does it show you what the post will look like before you post it?

Gillian it does show you a preview how it looks but sometimes it looks different when you look at it on steemit.It can be very long winded at times.As i do alot of recipes i require alot of photos.I am a virgo and very maticulous when it comes to my layout.My one trait that even annoys me🤣🤣.

I did save some information about how to use the different modes when formatting. I'll have to see if I can find it. It was back when I first joined and I settled into posting very simply so haven't look for it for months.

I put the code with the url of your image inbetween. In the blog editor it works so that you see a space between the images.
Now I have to figure out how to give you the code. When I put it in the comment box editor, you no longer see the code in the actual comment.

Still working on it @allyinspirit. Hoping I have enough time today to go in search of a cafe where I can actually get connected to the internet. My son came with me yesterday and spent over an hour trying to connect me but couldn't work out what the problem is either.

About the layout issues, I use html tags and sometimes I let the Markdown tags for images but very rarely. Html formating is the best way I've found to fix thigs a bit but you can be sure we are too limited maybe we only have "simple html" allowed so there's not much we can do to get impressive stuff out there.
You can look at the code of any post you want using
F12 keyat any moment which will popup a new window with the explorer developer environment. There you can look at the html code of the page and reuse the code to fit your needs.It's a bit tricky at first but with patience and persistence you can find out pretty nice stuff.

I'm with you. I couldn't eat a piece that big in one sitting. Too sweet for me. I normally eat half and then bring the rest home and eat it the next day with my coffee. Sometimes I even spread it out over three days! 😊
Thanks for the F12 key trick. I didn't know about that. My concern with the html is not so much getting the code right but not being able to see what it looks like before I make the post live. But maybe I can find a way to do that.
I couldn't see a preview in Busy and I couldn't work out how to use html and not markdown in steemit.
I'll have another got today. As you say, it requires patience but I've been messing about with it on and off since Friday so I'm pretty frustrated with it now!

I use the Steemit editor while posting as it shows you a real time preview . Yeah I know, it sucks but it's the only real preview you gonna find out( maybe someone else has another good solution but not one that I'm aware of now).
The nice thing of the Steemit editor is that it continously saves what you'r writing so you can move wherever you whant on the site but if you click the pencil you will go back to the same point you were editing, great!, doesn't it?

I don't get a real time preview when I use the editor in Steemit @drakernoise.
I click on "editor" and then the bar with the formatting options appears. And it now says "raw html" I type in some html but no preview appears.
If I click on "raw html" that changes to html and a preview box appears. However, all the preview box shows me is the code not what the page will look like.
I get a trye preview with markdown but not with html. It just shows the code.
Am I supposed to add something else?
Ok Gillian I see the problem.
Don't click on "editor". On the texarea just write down the code, no matter if html or markdown althought letting a blank space between each kind of codes, I often use a newline among those.
You will be seeing the realtime preview below the textarea. Tell me if you are able to see it. If you need me I'm on discord.

Gillian, this cake looks so yummy that even I would be tempted to have a bite of yours. I drive my friends crazy when I don't want a full slice but just a teaspoon of theirs to try it.
Hate to say it ~ But maybe the sugar gave you a temporary high but then it tends to bring you down later. 😊
With the left and right spacing. I've seen the code for it and it looks simple enough. I want to to be able to have 3 or 4 images in a row. Worked out how to do it. I put it into my ever increasing To do list, so I'll have to see if I can find it for you. 🦋
I go through phases like that too @allyinspirit, when I only want a few bites of someone else's cake. At the moment I'm eating my own, albeit in two sittings as explained to @drakernoise above. 😁
Don't tell anyone but I took a bit of poetic license with my post and I didn't actually eat that piece of cake yesterday. It was a few weeks ago!
Yesterday I had one small fruit oak cake (biscuit not really cake) with my coffee so I don't think there was any sugar high involved. I think it's the constant questioning of the time I spend on Steemit and what I want from here that gets me down bit. Especially when added to technical frustrations and the world not doing what I want it to do! 😂

Just that I only found out this morning that Mercury is in Retrograd so it's on the cards or in the stars that the world won't go the way we want it to go until March 15 ~ The good news is that it eases off on March 15, 2018 and not 2019 or even 2020 ~ So it could be worse. 😊
